🚧 Maintenance on two Fort Wayne trails is rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 11. The Towpath Trail from Covington Road to Smith Road will be closed for full resealing and is expected to reopen Monday, Sept. 15. The Pufferbelly Trail from Cookie Cottage to Carroll Road will undergo crack sealing and is expected to reopen Saturday morning, Sept. 13. Residents are advised to avoid walking or riding on sealed areas until the sealer cures. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🏛️ A historic Fort Wayne riverfront building is being transformed into Mitchell’s Downtown, a restaurant and sports bar, plus Flashbacks Downtown, a dance club for ages 30 and over. The venue at Harrison and 2nd streets will open in 2026 and feature a 250-space parking lot. Mitchell’s and Flashbacks will occupy 37% of the 40,000-square-foot building, with other businesses filling the remainder. The project is part of Riverfront Fort Wayne phase IIB, which includes an esplanade, hammock grove, cascading steps, and a boulder climbing mound. The building’s brick facade will be preserved while adding patios and a glass staircase overlooking the river. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🗣️ Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker is inviting youth to speak out on violence at a Youth Violence Prevention Forum on Sept. 27 at Foellinger Theatre. The forum will feature youth-led conversations with community leaders, panel discussions on prevention strategies, and vendors and food trucks to engage families. Residents can register online and submit questions for panelists. Doors open at 4 p.m.; the forum runs 5:15–7:30 p.m., and it is free and open to the public. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🍷 Country Heritage Winery and Backroads Distilling are running the Season of Gratitude 2025: Adopt and Honor a Hero campaign, giving guests the opportunity to support local heroes. The campaign runs through Nov. 16. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🏀 The Harlem Globetrotters 100 Year Tour is coming to Fort Wayne on Jan. 3, 2026, at 5 p.m. at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Globetrotters will face longtime rival the Washington Generals, celebrating a century of entertaining fans since 1926. 🎨 Blue Jacket’s Second Chances Art Exhibit celebrates local talent and the organization’s mission to help adults gain meaningful employment. Over a dozen artists, including local art advocate Alex Hall, created pieces inspired by Blue Jacket graduates like Robert Hayden, showcasing their personal stories and triumphs. The exhibit is Thursday, Sept. 11, at Blue Jacket’s campus off South Calhoun Street, with art available for purchase ($20–$60). Tickets for the event are $25. Read more from WANE 15 here.

⚾ The Fort Wayne TinCaps ended their season with a 5-0 shutout loss to West Michigan on Sunday. Fort Wayne lost 11 of their last 12 games, including six straight at the end of their home stand against Dayton. West Michigan scored runs in the 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th innings, while the TinCaps collected only three hits. Will Varmett allowed one earned run in four innings. Fort Wayne finishes the season 56-75, tied for the third worst in the Midwest League. Read more from WANE 15 here.
