🌭 Northeast Indiana AFL-CIO hosted the Organized Labor Day Picnic yesterday Monday at the Headwaters Park Pavilion. The free event featured 30 pounds of chili, 5,000 hot dogs, and family-friendly activities. Rooted in more than 50 years of tradition, the picnic was supported by hundreds of volunteers from 33 labor unions. It ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 333 S. Clinton Street. 🚧 INDOT will close the ramp from westbound SR 14/Illinois Road to southbound I-69 on or after September 2 for concrete restoration. The closure is expected to last about two weeks. Drivers can reach southbound I-69 by heading north to Exit 309B at U.S. 30/Goshen Road and re-entering south, or by using alternate routes. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🛣️ Starting September 8, Congressional Parkway will allow only eastbound traffic between Independence Drive and Goshen Road for concrete street repairs. The one-way change will last until October 1 as part of a City of Fort Wayne project. Updates on lane restrictions and closures are available on the city’s website. Read more from WFFT here.

🏡 The 43rd annual West Central Home and Garden Tour takes place September 6 and 7 in the West Central neighborhood. Tickets are $18 if preordered, $20 on the day of the event, and free for kids 12 and under. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🗺️ Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown returns Sunday, September 7, opening 23 attractions across Fort Wayne to the public at no cost. New this year, passports can be picked up at select Kroger and Old National Bank locations, and one passport works for an entire party. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🔥 The Fort Wayne Fire Department investigated a house fire Monday afternoon near the University of Saint Francis. Crews responded to the 2700 block of Spring Street, where smoke, blackened windows, and a burnt wall were seen. The cause and possible injuries remain unclear, and Spring Street was blocked off by emergency vehicles as of 1:30 p.m. Read more from WANE 15 here.

📜 The 7th U.S. Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Fort Wayne’s Lauren Richwine and her business “Death Done Differently” in a First Amendment lawsuit. Richwine sued after Indiana ordered her to stop operating without funeral licenses, which she does not have. The ruling upholds a lower court injunction allowing her to continue offering end-of-life services while the case proceeds. Read more from WANE 15 here.

📞 Dozens of 3Rivers Federal Credit Union members were scammed by spoofers posing as fraud protection agents, draining thousands from accounts. One victim lost $5,000 after unknowingly granting access. 3Rivers warned that legitimate fraud calls are short, won’t ask for sensitive info, and advised customers to always call the number on their card. The spoofers mimicked real call centers with scripts, hold music, and equipment. Federal law bans caller ID spoofing with fines up to $10,000 per violation. Read more from WANE 15 here.
