🚧 Two ramps connecting I-69 and U.S. 30/Goshen Road close today, September 29, for two weeks of concrete patching, joint repair, and repaving. The closures affect the on-ramp from westbound U.S. 30 to southbound I-69 and the off-ramp from southbound I-69 to eastbound U.S. 30. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes via Exit 311 or Exit 305/309A during construction. Read more from WANE 15 here.
💃 Ladies Night Out returns to downtown Fort Wayne on Thursday, October 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event invites women to enjoy shopping, food, and entertainment throughout the evening. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🎨 The Fort Wayne art community will gather for the 2025 Artlink Bash and Auction on Thursday, October 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event celebrates another year of Artlink with a night of creativity and community. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🌽 The YLNI Farmers Market will stay outdoors at Barr and Berry Street every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. through October. Starting November 1, the market moves to 3811 Illinois Road for the winter season, running Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until April 25, before returning downtown. 🗣️ Fort Wayne students gathered at Foellinger Theater for the Youth Violence Prevention Forum, hosted by the Mayor’s Youth Engagement Council. Mayor Sharon Tucker and community leaders joined youth in conversations about causes and solutions to violence. Students submitted over 150 questions, led the discussion, and shared insights on issues affecting them. Tucker called the event a promise kept, noting future forums may follow as part of the city’s plan to reduce youth violence. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🅿️ The City of Fort Wayne has opened the Lofts at Headwaters Park parking garage at 200 E. Superior Street. The garage offers 651 spaces, with 420 open to the public and over 200 reserved for residents and employees. Parking is free for the first 15 minutes, then $1 per hour with a daily max of $8. Located near Headwaters Park and the Arts Campus, the garage is part of a $98 million mixed-use development set to finish in fall 2026. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🏗️ Allen County marked a milestone in the construction of its new jail with a topping off ceremony on Friday. The 400,000 sq. ft. facility on Meyer Road will expand capacity from 731 to 1,300 beds, with future expansion possible up to 3,000. The jail includes housing for medical and mental health needs, programming areas, and upgraded technology. Construction is on schedule to finish in December 2027, with a phased inmate transition planned. The current downtown jail, built in 1981, will likely be torn down within three years. 🚑 The Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (TRAA) has given 30 days’ notice that it may stop providing Emergency Medical Dispatch services for Allen County 911 calls outside Fort Wayne. Ambulances will still respond, but callers may not receive pre-arrival guidance. TRAA requested $400,000 in funding, but county commissioners say no formal request has been made. 🚔 The Allen County Coroner’s Office identified 33-year-old Jacob Lee Leckenby as the man killed by Fort Wayne police after an officer was stabbed during a domestic disturbance on St. Marys Avenue. Leckenby died from multiple gunshot wounds, and the death was ruled a homicide-police action shooting. The investigation is ongoing. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🏈 Saint Francis edged Defiance College 37-34 at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium. The Cougars rushed for 255 yards, led by Azariah Wallace with 138 yards and two touchdowns. After giving up a late lead, Chris Mullen scored the game-winning touchdown.
