🐦Indiana animal-health officials confirmed a new case of highly pathogenic avian influenza in a LaGrange County egg-layer flock of 19,570 birds, which have been euthanized to prevent the virus from spreading. 🏛️ The Fort Wayne City Council approved the 2026 budget after cutting more than $8.6 million from the original $244.8 million proposal. The reductions came amid financial strain caused by Senate Bill One, which changed tax rules across the state. Major cuts included funding for the Pufferbelly Trail and Phase 3 of the Riverfront project. Council President Russ Jehl said the goal was to balance the budget without adding debt, while Councilwoman Michelle Chambers and Mayor Sharon Tucker criticized the cuts as short-sighted and harmful to long-term growth. Despite the reductions, no public servants will be laid off, and raises will remain in place. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🎓Fort Wayne Community Schools has partnered with seven area colleges and universities to form the Higher Education Coalition, expanding student access to college opportunities. Partner schools include Indiana Tech, IU Fort Wayne, Ivy Tech, Manchester, Purdue Fort Wayne, Trine, and Vincennes. Read more from WANE 15 here.

Read more from WANE 15 here.

🏛️ The 2025 government shutdown reached its 28th day, nearing a record length.
