🎯 Indiana’s archery deer season began October 1, and more than 13,000 deer have already been harvested. Conservation officers are reminding hunters that baiting using food, salt, or mineral blocks to lure deer is illegal. Areas remain “baited” for 10 days after removal of these materials. Recent violations in District 1 (Kosciusko and Wabash counties) prompted the DNR to post examples online. Officer Gannery Htoo emphasized that baiting disrupts fair chase and increases disease risk among deer. Hunters are encouraged to review DNR guidelines and report illegal activity. The southbound lane of Anthony Boulevard was temporarily closed while crews cleared the scene. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚓 A driver has died after crashing into the back of a semi early Friday morning on Illinois Road near Sutton Avenue, just east of Meijer. Fort Wayne Police say the semi driver was heading west when he heard a noise and discovered a car had hit the rear of his truck. It took emergency crews about 19 minutes to free the car’s driver, who was taken to a hospital in serious condition and later died. Westbound lanes were closed for several hours during the investigation. Witnesses are asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚑 The Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (TRAA) has extended its notice to halt Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) services from 30 to 90 days to allow more time for negotiations with Allen County. TRAA aims to continue providing life-saving dispatch instructions, such as CPR and bleeding control, for all 911 callers. Executive Director Joel Benz said talks with county officials are ongoing, with the new deadline set for December 24. If no agreement is reached, TRAA will end EMD services for county calls outside Fort Wayne. Read more from WANE 15 here.

Myth: Pet insurance doesn’t cover everything

Many pet owners worry that insurance won’t cover everything, especially routine care or pre-existing conditions. While that’s true in many cases, most insurers now offer wellness add-ons for preventive care like vaccines, dental cleanings, and check-ups, giving you more complete coverage. View Money’s pet insurance list to find plans for as low as $10 a month.
