🚄 A new “Midwest Connect” rail line could connect Chicago to Pittsburgh with stops in Fort Wayne and Columbus. Backed by $650,000 in regional funding, the project is in early planning under the federal Corridor ID Program. Read more from SlashGear here.
🏗️ A rezoning request seeks to turn 3.56 acres on Carroll Road into a 32,000-square-foot medical and professional office park. Developer Gary Brown of C3 Construction says the low-intensity project will fit the neighborhood and preserve nearby property values. A public hearing is scheduled for Nov. 13. 🎨 Fort Wayne’s “SHOUT-OUT: Fort Wayne” program is teaming up with Argentinian artist Sasha Primo and local creative Bryant Rozier to design a permanent public art piece for the Harvester Neighborhood. The project, inspired by community stories and industrial history, aims to reflect the area’s identity and resilience. A community event at Memorial Park this Saturday will gather residents’ input for the design. Read more from WANE here.
🏭 CPI Card Group celebrated the opening of its new manufacturing facility at 6993 Lima Road on Thursday morning. The payments-technology company produces credit, debit, and prepaid cards and highlighted its local investment with a ribbon-cutting featuring city officials and community leaders. 🎙️ The Knight Foundation and the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne awarded grants to PBS Fort Wayne and WBOI Public Radio to strengthen local news and programming. WBOI will expand its storytelling and investigative features, while PBS Fort Wayne plans to revive its PrimeTime program and launch new local shows in 2026. Read more from WFFT here.
🚔Salma Nadrous, 64, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a crash that killed a pedestrian on Covington Road in January. She’ll serve six years, split between prison and probation. Read more from WANE here.
⚖️ A jailed Fort Wayne man, Jason Bridges, and two women, Redena Hire and Alexis Drake, are accused of plotting to kill a police informant who helped in Bridges’ drug arrest. Police say the group used coded jail calls to plan the murder, which involved fentanyl and firearms. All three face felony conspiracy charges. Read more from WANE here.
🕊️ The Allen County Coroner identified 17-year-old Nyree K. Jones as the victim of Wednesday’s fatal shooting on Lafayette Street. He was found unresponsive inside a home and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The case has been ruled a homicide, and police continue to investigate. Read more from WANE here.

🏀 The Purdue Fort Wayne women’s basketball team crushed Manchester 92–30 in Thursday’s exhibition game. Five Mastodons scored in double figures, led by Alana Nelson with 15 points. The ‘Dons shot 52% from the field and never trailed, showing strong teamwork with 22 assists. The team opens its regular season November 3 at West Virginia. Read more from WANE 15 here.
