🛹 Lawton Skate Park in Fort Wayne will close until mid-November for foundation and fence repairs, beginning Thursday. The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department says signage will mark the closure, with reopening expected the week of November 10. Read more from WANE 15 here.

💚 Alliance Health Centers and The Rescue Mission have opened a new behavioral health clinic at Charis House, providing therapy and psychiatry for women and children experiencing homelessness. The partnership will serve about 500 patients yearly, offering care and support in a safe, familiar space. Read more from WFFT here.

🔥 Fort Wayne firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire Wednesday morning at the former Village Woods Middle School on East Maple Grove. Smoke was seen coming from the vacant building, and the fire was found near a plywood-covered entry door. The cause remains under investigation. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🛣️ Fort Wayne’s Public Works Division has launched TRECtheFort.com, a new site with an interactive map showing road closures, detours, and lane restrictions. Users can view contractor details, sign up for email updates, and soon access info through Waze for easier route planning. Read more from WFFT here.

🍂 The Fort Wayne Street Department will begin leaf collection on November 3, running through December 19. South neighborhoods are first, followed by north and central areas. Crews will work Veterans Day but pause for Thanksgiving. Residents should rake leaves to the curb by 7 a.m. Read more from WFFT here.

🏰 A 40-acre Aboite Township estate known as “The Hamilton” is listed for $6.75 million by Noll Team Real Estate. Once home to Pizza Hut moguls Dick and Deanna Freeland, the 29,000-square-foot mansion includes eight bedrooms, nine fireplaces, and a 7-acre lake. Read more from WFFT here.

🍂 Community Harvest Food Bank is launching several fall events to support local families. A Trunk or Treat and comedy fundraiser take place October 24, followed by the U Can Crush Hunger campaign from October 27 to November 7. Donations and volunteers are needed. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🏫 The ongoing federal government shutdown is threatening Head Start programs nationwide, especially those with fiscal years starting November 1. Fort Wayne’s Brightpoint, serving 1,000 children, plans to stay open through November despite delayed funding. Smaller programs may face closure. Read more from WANE 15 here.
