🎃 The Fort Wayne Police Department confirmed that official trick-or-treat hours for 2025 will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31. Sunset will occur at 6:37 p.m., giving families some daylight during the event. Officials also shared safety tips, including wearing flame-resistant and reflective costumes, testing makeup for allergies, and avoiding decorative contact lenses without professional guidance. 👻 Spooky season is in full swing as Fort Wayne homeowners deck out their yards for Halloween. Visit Fort Wayne shared a list and interactive map of local haunts, including eerie walkthroughs like the one at 3016 Kenbridge Ct., featuring a graveyard, skeletons, and a haunted freakshow. Another walkthrough can be found at 4001 Aboite Lake Dr., with more decorated homes scattered across the city and nearby towns. The Copper Hill neighborhood continues its long-standing Halloween tradition with decades of collected décor. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🎁 Just days after opening applications, the Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Program in Fort Wayne reached full capacity. The organization reported record-high demand, with nearly 300 families signing up on Monday alone. The program provides meals, clothes, toys, and other holiday support for local families. Last year, it served more than 700 families and nearly 3,000 children. Those still seeking help can apply for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program starting in November. 🏥 Parkview Health and Anthem remain in talks over Medicare Advantage coverage. While commercial plan agreements were reached earlier, Parkview expects Anthem’s Medicare Advantage plans to become out of network by Jan. 1, 2026. Patients are encouraged to explore new plans during open enrollment (Oct. 15–Dec. 7). Read more from WANE 15 here.

🌾 Indiana soybean farmers say they’re feeling the pressure after China stopped ordering U.S. soybeans amid an ongoing trade war. Local farmers at Wyss Farms and Warpup Farms report declining prices and rising costs, calling themselves “pawns in the political war.” President Trump is expected to announce $10–$14 billion in aid, adding to earlier relief funding this year. Farmers agree the assistance is necessary but not sustainable, urging a shift toward domestic biofuels and freer markets to reduce reliance on exports. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🗳️ The Allen County Council unanimously approved a proposal to switch from traditional polling places to Vote Centers, allowing residents to cast ballots at any of 53 countywide locations instead of 110 precinct sites. The change aims to cut election costs, reduce confusion, and improve efficiency by consolidating underused polling sites and optimizing staffing. Officials also plan to share live wait times online for each location. The proposal now heads to state officials for final approval, with Vote Centers expected to debut in May 2026 if approved. 💰 A Fort Wayne woman received $175,000 from the city after suffering severe nerve damage when a nail from a Rivergreenway handrail punctured her hand. The injury occurred in March 2021, and the lawsuit, filed in June 2022, claimed the city was negligent in maintaining the trail. Despite denying liability, the city agreed to settle through mediation in August 2025. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🍽️ Don D. “Bud” Hall II, a beloved Fort Wayne restaurateur and community figure, passed away October 6, 2025, at age 83.
