⛽A gas leak south of downtown Fort Wayne has shut down part of Lafayette Street, with traffic diverted around Leith Street from Pontiac to Oxford Street. Fort Wayne Police say the water department hit a gas line, and the closure is expected to last about six hours. NIPSCO, Fort Wayne Fire Department, and police are responding to the scene. ⚡A power outage has affected parts of Fort Wayne, impacting more than 2,000 Indiana Michigan Power customers. As of 1:55 p.m., multiple areas across the city were without power. Indiana Michigan Power is still assessing the situation, and no estimated time of restoration has been provided. The cause of the outage, including whether high winds played a role, is currently unclear. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🍗 Korean Fried Chicken in Fort Wayne is reopening in December after the owners faced a family health crisis. The restaurant, located at 2801 Lower Huntington Road, will hold a soft opening on December 1. Co-owners Gemma and Po had previously closed the restaurant to care for their young daughter Maddie, who was diagnosed with Burkitt’s leukemia. Community support through GoFundMe helped fund her treatment, allowing the family to return to their restaurant dream. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🎄 Club Christmas, a holiday-themed nightclub in Fort Wayne, opens for a limited 12-day run this season. The club features a DJ, dancing, and Christmas-themed cocktails from Copper Spoon. It opens on Wednesday and will operate only on Fridays and Saturdays, with the final night on New Year’s Eve. The winter wonderland-themed venue is located at 10350 Coldwater Road, in the former Hideout 125 restaurant. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🎇Night of Lights 2025 kicks off on Wednesday, November 26, and runs through the end of the year. Lighting begins at 6 p.m. at multiple locations downtown, including the History Center, Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Community Center, PNC Bank, Ash Brokerage, Elevatus Architecture, and Downtown Churches/ACPL finale. Road closures will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and parking is limited downtown. The Fort Wayne Drone Show has been canceled due to wind. 🌱Fort Wayne City Council President Geoff Paddock asked the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to require Google to use the “absolute best practices” for air pollution control at its Adams Center Road data center. The request follows a proposed expansion of the site’s diesel generators to 179, totaling 528 megawatts of power and 1,074,000 gallons of fuel. Paddock requested a town hall with Google in December to address environmental concerns and said proactive engagement could help restore community goodwill. 🏀 Purdue Fort Wayne won 90-77 over Chicago State on Nov. 25. Mikale Stevenson scored a career-high 29 points with 5-of-8 from three, and Corey Hadnot II added 28 points on 11-of-12 shooting. The Mastodons hit 13-of-16 3-pointers, finishing 60.4% from the floor. Chicago State led for 11 minutes in the first half but never threatened in the second. Darius Duffy contributed seven points, five rebounds, and three blocks. The Mastodons move to 3-5, and Chicago State falls to 0-7. They host Holy Cross on Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. at Gates Sports Center.
