🎄The 41st annual Festival of Trees at the Embassy Theatre begins Wednesday at 3 p.m., just before downtown Fort Wayne’s Night of Lights. Visitors can explore decorated trees, enjoy a visit with Santa, and see performances including the Grande Page pipe organ, choirs, dances, and orchestras. The festival runs through Dec. 3, with proceeds supporting the historic theater. Last year, over 25,000 guests attended. Read more from WANE 15 here.

Downtown Fort Wayne officials say the drone show will be rescheduled for a later date, while all other scheduled lightings will continue as planned. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚦A crash at the intersection of Covington Road and West Jefferson Boulevard in southwest Fort Wayne Tuesday afternoon caused backups and closed three eastbound lanes. Dispatch reports that at least one person may have suffered a broken leg. The number of people involved and the timeline for clearing the scene remain unclear. Read more from WANE 15 here.

❄️Starting December 1, The Salvation Army at 2901 North Clinton Street will operate a Winter Contingency Emergency Shelter 24/7 for single women and families with children through March 31, 2026, providing temporary housing, showers, and meals. Single men can find shelter at the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. 📚Fort Wayne Community Schools shared their year-in-review report highlighting progress in literacy, attendance, and behavior. Attendance rose from 93.1% to 94.5%, and serious behavioral infractions decreased by 16%. Kindergarten through third-grade IREAD proficiency improved to 82.5% from 65.1% in 2020-21. The Schools of Success program reports 98% of students have clear future educational and career goals. 🚌Classic Hits 101.7 launched its 30th annual “Stuff a Bus” food drive, collecting donations for the Associated Churches food bank to distribute through local church pantries. Morning show co-host Jim Reed highlighted that donations can be dropped off at the bus, given by phone, or via text to 44321. 🎄Fort Wayne families gathered at McKinnie Commons for the 3rd Annual Unity Lighting, hosted by Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation and the Greater Fort Wayne National Pan-Hellenic Council. The event brought music, conversation, and plenty of Thanksgiving cheer as volunteers handed out 100 holiday bags filled with turkeys. Leaders say the goal is simple: bring people together. Organizers from the local NPHC emphasized unity and community service, noting the event grows each year with grateful families returning. Councilwoman Rohli Booker highlighted the momentum in Southeast Fort Wayne, celebrating the spirit of giving and togetherness the event represents. Read more from WFFT here.

🌳Students at Bunche Elementary joined the Fort Wayne Rotary Club this week to help plant 60 native hardwood trees across seven FWCS elementary schools. The project was funded after previously planted Rotary trees elsewhere were removed during construction, prompting new investment to restore natural spaces on school grounds. Project lead Randy Roberts says the goal is for the trees to remain long enough to reach full maturity, creating lasting shade and outdoor learning areas. Teachers are already weaving the trees into lessons, with students showing impressive environmental knowledge. One student summed up the excitement simply: “I really love them, and they're really cute and great.” Read more from WFFT here.

🏈 Bishop Luers earned Team of the Week honors after a dominant 35-0 win that stopped Myles McLaughlin’s chase for the national rushing record. The victory secured the Knights’ 19th semi-state title, the most in Indiana history. Despite a 4-5 regular season, Luers surged in postseason play with strong defense and a steady run game. The Taylor brothers lead the defense, while running backs TJ Epperson and Brandon Gaither both surpassed 1,000 rushing yards, a program first. The Knights play Cascade for the 3A state title Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium at 3 p.m. Read more from WANE 15 here.
