📰News
⚖️ Joe Hand Promotions Inc. filed a lawsuit against DG Properties 21 LLC, owner of Piere’s and Bobby McGee’s in Fort Wayne, claiming the bars showed UFC pay-per-view fights without paying licensing fees. The lawsuit alleges the company intercepted a signal or used a non-commercial streaming service to display fights for profit, violating distribution rights. Joe Hand Promotions seeks $110,000 per unauthorized publication or $60,000 per unauthorized reception, plus legal fees. A court date has not been set. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚌 Fort Wayne bus riders can now track buses in real time through the Transit app, thanks to a partnership between Citilink and Systrans using NAVINEO technology. The system shows bus locations, arrival times, and route information. Riders currently use Token Transit for fares and Transit for tracking, with plans to merge both functions into one app. The technology also supports automated stop announcements and future detour alerts. More information about Citilink routes and schedules can be found online. Read more from WANE 15 here.
💊 The Allen County Council approved a $200,000 grant to Fort Wayne Adult and Teen Challenge to renovate a building into an in-person substance abuse treatment facility for teens and young adults. Councilman Ken Fries emphasized that funding programs like this helps keep people out of jail, provides necessary care, and can reduce crime linked to drug use. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🎄Parkview Field’s Holiday Lights event returns Nov. 13-Jan. 3, featuring 1.5 million lights, new displays, Johnny Claus, and holiday train rides. The walk-through event is 50% larger than last year’s, which drew over 98,000 visitors. Special promotions include Family Feast Night, Paws and Claws, and Thirsty Thursday. Tickets are available in advance or by phone at 260-482-6400. Read more from WANE 15 here.
💧The Lochmueller Group, supported by $1.5 million from the Indiana Finance Authority, is designing a pipeline to bring water from Huntington to Andrews. The plan is currently 60% complete. Water will be chlorinated along the route and upon arrival in Andrews, and the town’s water meter will start at delivery. Fire hydrant placement, easements, and water rates are still under discussion. Additional presentations will be given as the plan progresses. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🍿Fort Wayne Cinema Center is offering free popcorn and a free month of membership to new members for patrons who donate to Amani Family Services, YWCA Northeast Indiana, or both while attending Wicked: For Good from Nov. 20 to Dec. 7. Donations can be monetary for Amani or comfort items for children at YWCA shelters. Subtitled screenings are available on select dates. Read more from WANE 15 here.
📵 Scammers are impersonating the Indiana BMV, sending texts and emails with logos and links to fake websites. The BMV will never demand payment via text or email. Messages often use urgency or threats of arrest to trick recipients. Caller ID spoofing is also used. Only use the official site, in.gov/mybmv, and report scams via BBB Scam Tracker or the FTC. If personal info was shared, contact your bank and consider a fraud alert or credit freeze. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🔥 As cold weather arrives, Fort Wayne firefighters caution against unsafe heating methods like stoves or ovens. Space heaters are safe if plugged directly into the wall, UL listed, have automatic shut-off, and are kept three feet from anything flammable. Carbon monoxide from gas appliances is also a risk—residents should have working CO detectors. Smoke alarms and CO detectors should be tested regularly, and batteries replaced as recommended. Those needing help with heating or alarms can call 311 for resources. Read more from WANE 15 here.
