🦅 Northwest Allen County Schools unveiled Willow Creek Middle School, set to open for the 2026-2027 school year. The new mascot, Boomer the Thunderhawk, wears a blue jersey with the number 26 to honor the school’s opening year. 🎳Auburn Bowl In Auburn Partners With Toys For Tots, Hosting A Cosmic Bowl Event Friday Night. Guests Who Bring A Gift Valued At $15 Or More Receive Free Admission, With Walk-Ins Accepted But Pre-Registration Recommended. ❄️Fort Wayne city crews and state transportation teams are preparing for Indiana’s first snowfall of the season. Crews started early to salt main roads, prioritizing bus routes, emergency corridors, and heavily traveled streets. Officials remind drivers to be cautious as temperatures drop. 🔥A fire broke out early Tuesday morning in a home on the 3000 block of Reed Street in southeast Fort Wayne. Fire crews responded around 1:30 a.m. and found a person inside. First responders attempted to save the individual, but they died. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours to fully extinguish the fire, which officials say was accidental. 🚨Indiana State Police, along with Fort Wayne Police, Allen County Sheriff’s Department, and New Haven Police, acted on rumors of a large car rally and potential street racing last Friday night. Using a helicopter to monitor gatherings, officers dispersed crowds, issued 32 tickets, gave 59 warnings, and made several arrests. A stolen car pursuit also ended safely. ⚖️Jonathon Mattix, 38, Was Sentenced To 80 Years In Prison For The Murder Of 54-Year-Old Dawn Vera Kovach In New Haven. Court Documents Show Mattix Admitted To An Altercation And Fired A Firearm At Kovach, Claiming Self-Defense, But Never Called Authorities. Investigators Linked Mattix To The Crime After Multiple Tips And Witness Statements. Kovach Suffered Multiple Gunshot Wounds And Facial Injuries, And Her Death Was The Fourth Homicide Of The Year In The Area. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🏛️The Senate Took Initial Steps To End The 41-Day Government Shutdown After Moderate Democrats Agreed To Move Forward Without Guaranteed Health Care Subsidy Extensions. A Procedural Vote Advanced Three Bipartisan Spending Bills And Extended Government Funding Until Late January, While Ensuring Federal Workers Receive Back Pay. The Senate Vote Is Expected By Tuesday, With The House Likely Voting Within 36 Hours. A December Vote On Health Care Subsidies Could Determine If Another Shutdown Occurs In January. 🏀🏈Sports🏒

🏀 Shabaz Khaliq returns as head coach of the North Side Legends boys basketball team for the 2025-26 season, marking his second stint after coaching from 2010-18. Khaliq led the Legends to the 4A state title game in 2017 and posted a 145-50 record in his first tenure.
