Expect a bright and beautiful Friday with mostly sunny skies and a high of 67°F. Light breezes from the north-northeast will keep things pleasant as the UV index climbs to very high so don’t forget your sunscreen! Overnight, skies will stay clear and temperatures will dip to a crisp 41°F with gentle northwest winds.

🏭 Over 300 layoffs are set for June 20 at RV manufacturing plants in Howe, Indiana. WARN notices report 251 jobs cut at Cruiser RV and 51 at DRV, both owned by Thor Industries. Read more from WANE 15 here.
📡Lakeland Internet will launch high-speed fixed wireless service in Allen County by summer 2025. The $8.5 million project includes six towers using Tarana technology, with early signups guiding deployment areas like Grabill, Hoagland, and Aboite. Read more from WFFT here.
🚧 A major construction project on U.S. 24 in southwest Allen County begins May 12, lasting through October. Eastbound lanes will carry traffic in both directions. Left turns and access at W. Hamilton and Amber Roads will be restricted. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚷 Starting May 12, South Anthony Boulevard from Creighton to East Pontiac will close through mid-August. The project includes new sidewalks, an eight-foot trail, narrowed lanes, new lighting, and resurfacing to improve safety and encourage neighborhood revitalization. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🛫 Real ID enforcement has started at Fort Wayne International Airport and nationwide. While non-compliant travelers can still fly for now, delays are likely. Real IDs feature a star in the top corner and require extra documents to obtain. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🕊️ Former DeKalb County Sheriff Don Lauer has died at age 62. He served as sheriff from 2011 to 2018, began with the department in 1991, and returned in 2023 in a part-time role. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚔 Tavon Underwood, 27, was arrested Tuesday for murder and attempted robbery in a 2017 homicide. He and Carlos Ellis allegedly shot at Nicholas Hennan, who crashed and died. DNA and phone records led to March 2025 charges. Read more from WANE 15 here.
⚖️ In Alison Davis’ murder trial, witnesses including family, police, and medical experts testified about her husband’s fatal injuries and her inconsistent statements. Alison's 911 call initially claimed her husband fell down the stairs. Medical professionals disagreed with the fall theory, leading to the conclusion of homicide.
