🎪 BuskerFest brings circus acts and fire shows back downtown
BuskerFest returns May 17 from 3–9 p.m. with circus-style acts in downtown Fort Wayne. Performers include Cincinnati Circus, Twisted Rhythm, and fire performers Pyroscope. After-hours entertainment continues on The Landing. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🍽️ Cookin’ Men rebrands as Cookin’ Fort Wayne with new cause and location
Cookin’ Men is now Cookin’ Fort Wayne, benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Indiana. Nearly 100 volunteer chefs will serve food at Electric Works. Guests can sample everything inside and outside the venue. Read more from WANE 15 here.
✊ Hundreds gather at Allen County Courthouse for May Day protest
Protesters gathered Thursday outside the Allen County Courthouse as part of May Day demonstrations against the Trump Administration. Participants voiced concerns on Medicaid, deportation, and social security. Events remained peaceful throughout. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🏗️ New Haven unveils “New Haven Next” economic development plan
Mayor Steve McMichael introduced “New Haven Next,” a plan to boost local development through new businesses, housing, recreation, and a public trust model. In 2023, over $115 million was invested in New Haven projects. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🌽 YLNI Summer Market returns for the 2025 season The YLNI Farmers Market opens outdoors for the 2025 season starting Saturday, May 3. It runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May through September, at Barr and Wayne Streets—rain or shine. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🌸 Cherry Blossom Festival seeks volunteers ahead of May 18 event The annual Cherry Blossom Festival returns to Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday, May 18, from 12–6 p.m. at the Walb Student Union. Organizers are looking for volunteers to support the free celebration of Japanese culture. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🕊️ Person dies after apparent jump from downtown building A person died Saturday morning after an apparent jump from a downtown Fort Wayne building. Emergency crews responded to E Washington Blvd and Clinton Street, where streets were closed. The person later died at the hospital. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🏗️ Business leaders clash with Mayor over North River project plans
Business leaders expressed frustration after receiving no formal response to their offer to buy Fort Wayne’s North River property. The city, which plans to build a youth sports fieldhouse, responded with surprise, citing prior agreements and ongoing discussions. Both sides claim alignment in vision, but diverge on communication and process.

👮♂️ Thirty-three Indiana law enforcement agencies will join Special Olympics Indiana for “Cops on a Rooftop” on May 16. Officers will be on Dunkin’ rooftops statewide, including Fort Wayne locations on Lima and Dupont Roads, from 5 a.m. to noon. Read more from WFFT here.
👕 Summit City Vintage Fest has been rescheduled to June due to rain, according to an Instagram post by organizers. The event at 110 W. Columbia Street was set to feature 25 clothing vendors, drinks from Night Train, and music by DJ J. Tubbs. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🧤 Volunteers across Fort Wayne participated in the ‘Great American Cleanup’ on Saturday, collecting litter and cleaning public areas. The event ended with a celebration at Headwaters Park featuring food, drinks, prizes, and live entertainment. Read more from WOWO here.
