🌞 Huntington County Commissioners approved a resolution for a Solar Energy Systems ordinance aimed at protecting farmland and aligning with local desires. It includes strict setback rules, height limits, and environmental safeguards. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🔥 A scrap fire broke out Wednesday evening at OmniSource on Maumee Avenue, burning through the night and shutting down part of the road. Crews moved 800 tons of steel to fight the fire. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚛 Community Harvest Food Bank’s Farm Wagon is changing its distribution schedule starting May 1. The Coliseum Boulevard site will close, and new locations in Fort Wayne and DeKalb County will alternate weekly. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚢 Sweet Breeze canal boat tours return Memorial Day weekend, with ticket sales starting May 1. Public and private cruises are available, and opening weekend tours include a chance to get free Science Central tickets. Read more from Fort Wayne Parks here.

🥇 Allen County took home two of seven statewide honors at the Greenways Foundation’s Trails Celebration. Commissioner Rich Beck was named “Outstanding Public Official,” and the county’s equestrian course earned “Outstanding Trail Project.” Read more from WFFT here.

🛫 Fort Wayne International Airport will open The Gateway Lounge presented by STAR Bank on May 15. Located on the second floor, it offers amenities like private restrooms, workstations, snacks, and day or annual passes. Read more from WFFT here.

🍹 Fort Wayne’s DORA launched in May 2024 and has run smoothly with few issues. City officials are considering expanding it downtown. Businesses and Downtown Fort Wayne continue promoting it collaboratively. Read more from WANE 15 here.

FORT WAYNE’S FIRST-EVER COFFEE CRAWL BREWS COMMUNITY AND CAFFEINE THIS JUNE

Fort Wayne, IN – Fort Wayne’s coffee scene is coming together like never before! From June 1–27, the inaugural Fort Wayne Coffee Crawl, presented by Fort Wayne Social Club and sponsored by Utopian Coffee, invites residents and visitors to sip, explore, and support local cafés across the city.

The event wraps up with a community finale party at Utopian Coffee’s Roastery, featuring music, food trucks, and plenty of coffee (and other beverages) to go around.
