Fort Wayne Street Line Painting Begins May 18
• Fort Wayne’s Traffic Operations Department will begin annual street line painting on May 18 to improve roadway visibility and safety.
• City officials warned drivers not to drive over wet paint because it can damage vehicles and create hazards for other motorists.
• Drivers are being urged to slow down near painting crews, follow traffic controls, and avoid freshly painted lines even if paint trucks are no longer visible.

Three Sisters Open Dessert Shop in Southwest Fort Wayne
• Sisters Taylor Smith, Kylie Smith, and Morgan Shank have opened 3 Daughters Cookies & Ice Cream in the Jefferson Crossing shopping center.
• The shop offers more than 40 ice cream flavors along with cookies, shakes, sundaes, and a signature cookie sundae made with fresh-baked cookies.
• The owners said the business is meant to be a community gathering spot where people can enjoy homemade desserts and celebrate together.

Water Line Work Causes Traffic Restrictions Near Maplecrest and Moeller Roads
• Utility work near South Maplecrest Road and Moeller Road will affect traffic through Friday as crews prepare for a new water transmission line.
• The traffic signal will be shut off daily from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and replaced with an automated flagging system.
• Drivers should expect reduced lanes on Maplecrest and Moeller while crews locate underground utilities before construction begins.

Sweet Breeze Canal Boat Launches Ahead of 2026 Season
• Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation launched the Sweet Breeze canal boat on the St. Marys River at Guldlin Park last May 12.
• The public launch event was scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ahead of the start of the summer tourism season.
• Sweet Breeze will officially begin public tours for the 2026 season on May 23.

Arneo Apartments and Waynedale 2040 Plan Advance to Fort Wayne City Council
• The Fort Wayne Plan Commission held a public hearing Monday on the Waynedale 2040 Plan and the proposed Villages of Arneo apartment project.
• Developers presented plans for a 240-unit apartment complex featuring one, two, and three-bedroom units along with amenities like a pool, gym, and common spaces.
• Both the neighborhood plan and apartment proposal will now move forward for consideration by the Fort Wayne City Council.

Fort Wayne Police Testing Audio Detection System to Speed Up Crime Response
• Fort Wayne Police launched a 90-day pilot program using the Flock Safety Raven system to detect sounds like gunshots, crashes, and breaking glass.
• The system places sensors in selected north and south side areas based on crime data and can alert officers within about 45 to 60 seconds.

Fort Wayne Recovery Nonprofit Launches Operations Ahead of Fundraising Goal
• Day 41 Brotherhood began operating its landscaping company less than a month after launching a fundraising campaign for formerly incarcerated men in recovery.

Man Pleads Guilty to Murder of 16-Year-Old in 2025 Shooting
• Jamoni Burton, 20, pleaded guilty on Monday to murder in a 2025 shooting that killed a 16-year-old.
• He accepted a plea deal for a 45-year prison sentence, and a firearm enhancement charge will be dismissed.
• Police said the victim, Kardenai Anthony Hollis, was found with gunshot wounds at an apartment complex and later died at the hospital.

Fort Wayne Businesses and Church Respond to Proposed Homeless Resource Center

• Fort Wayne company Sweetwater launched a Dolby Atmos mobile recording studio built inside a custom Airstream trailer.
