Work Underway for Illinois Road Improvements and New Trail
• The $9 million Illinois Road Trail and Road Improvement Project began, with lane closures expected until mid-2027.
• Improvements include resurfacing, widening, restriping, intersection safety upgrades, curbs, ADA ramps, retaining walls, and stormwater work.
• A nearly two-mile trail will connect Parkwest Shopping Center, Jefferson Pointe, Rockhill Park, and existing trails, funded by grants, donations, and city financing.

Man Found Dead After Standoff in Southeast Fort Wayne
• Police responded Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. to a mental health crisis at a home on the 3900 block of Eastway Drive.
• Officers attempted to negotiate with the armed man before entering the home and finding him unresponsive; he was pronounced dead.
• Investigators remained on scene collecting evidence, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity and cause of death.

Powers Hamburgers Vandalized Again
• Two windows at the iconic Powers Hamburgers were broken overnight, marking the second vandalism incident in four months.
• Security footage showed someone throwing a cinder block through the windows, and the business delayed opening to protect customers from broken glass.

FWCS Students Create Album In Collaboration With Sweetwater, USF
• FWCS students released a 14-song album called ‘Stay Tuned’ featuring original music in genres from hip hop to heavy metal.

Senate Nears Deal to End DHS Shutdown
• Senate Republicans proposed funding 94% of the DHS budget while withholding $5.5 billion for ICE deportation operations.
• The deal would restore funding for TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard, with remaining ICE and elections-related items potentially approved through budget reconciliation.
• Lawmakers continue negotiations as Democrats push for ICE reforms, and the DHS shutdown has lasted since Feb. 14.
