A wintry start to the day with light snow showers and gusty winds, bringing a high near 32°F. W winds at 20–30 mph, with occasional gusts over 35 mph, will make it feel even colder, and there’s a 50% chance of snow with less than an inch of accumulation expected. Tonight remains cloudy and blustery, with a low around 16°F and W winds continuing at 20–30 mph, while the waning crescent moon rises briefly before sunset.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Coming to Fort Wayne
 • The show will take place at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, May 23.
 • Public ticket sales begin Friday, March 20, with a pre-sale available one day earlier.

Fort Wayne Asks Residents to Report Potholes
 • Street Department crews are repairing potholes across the city as the weather warms.
 • Residents can report potholes online or by calling 311 for a response within eight business hours.
 • Vehicle damage from potholes should be documented and reported to 311 for a tort claim investigation.

Construction on Coliseum Boulevard to Cause Extended Closures
 • INDOT crews will begin bridge and road resurfacing work on or after March 16.
 • Intermittent closures will occur on multiple segments including I-69 to E. Washington Blvd and surrounding streets.
 • All work is expected to finish by the end of November, weather permitting.

Fort Wayne City Utilities Opens Biosolids Facility For Wind Damage Cleanup
• The facility will accept tree branches and limbs on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. following Friday’s high winds.
• Residents will pay $1 per 100 pounds or $20 per ton to drop off debris.
• Normal operations will resume on Monday.

High Winds Cause Power Outages, Tree Damage, And Accidents In Fort Wayne
• Wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph downed trees knocked out power for thousands and caused car accidents across the city.
• Residents like Marcus Benjamin reported damage to property, including a shed, while checking on neighbors first.
• Indiana Michigan Power said crews could not safely repair downed lines while winds exceeded 35 mph, causing delays.

122nd Fighter Wing Announces Leadership Transition
• Chief Master Sgt. Joseph Lewis has been appointed as the new command chief, succeeding Chief Master Sgt. Kyle D. Hoopingarner.
• The leadership change was formalized at an assumption of responsibility ceremony at the Indiana Air National Guard base in Fort Wayne.
• Lewis has served at the 122nd Fighter Wing since 2008 and will act as the senior enlisted advisor and advocate for the unit’s enlisted Airmen.

Deer Park Irish Pub’s ‘Clover Classic’ Brings St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations
• The annual event runs through Tuesday, March 17, with daily music and food trucks starting at noon.
• Activities include a keg toss, Irish road bowling, cornhole tournament, Irish dancing, a ‘Shamrock Sprint,’ and a ‘People’s Parade.’
• Admission is $5, and festivities began Friday with the traditional keg lowering and tapping of the Gilded Green Beer Barrel.

‘Get Green Fest’ Brings St. Patrick’s Festival To Fort Wayne
• The free, family-friendly event featured a 5-Kilt run/walk, river greening, and an event tent with food, drinks, and activities.
• The St. Mary’s River was dyed green using eco-friendly vegetable-based dye at the Carole Lombard Memorial Bridge.
• Proceeds from the festival support local charities, and the event ran from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 900 West Main Street.

Garage Fire in West Allen County
 • Fire crews responded around 8 a.m. to a garage blaze in the Chestnut Hills addition.
 • All occupants and pets safely escaped the home during the fire.
 • Multiple departments, including West Central Fire and Southwest Fire District, assisted in extinguishing the blaze.

Fort Wayne Lyft Driver Sentenced for Sexual Battery
 • Abdul Rahim Nordin pleaded guilty to sexual battery for an assault on a Lyft passenger in December 2024.
 • He was sentenced to 180 days in confinement and two years of probation.
 • The victim requested the plea agreement be accepted to avoid a trial.

Indiana BMV Warns Of New Text Message Scam
• Scammers are sending texts with links that mimic official BMV websites and include fake receipts and confirmation numbers.
• The BMV advises recipients to ignore and delete suspicious messages and not click on any links.
• The agency states it never requests fees via text messages and does not send texts about outstanding penalties.

U.S. Cuts Fee to Renounce Citizenship from $2,350 to $450
• The State Department reduced the cost to renounce U.S. citizenship by about 80 percent, lowering the fee from $2,350 to $450.
• The new rule took effect Friday and restores the same fee level that existed when the charge was first introduced in 2010.
• The fee had been raised in 2015 as applications increased, partly due to tax reporting rules affecting Americans living abroad.

Americans living overseas or holding dual citizenship may now face a lower cost if they choose to formally give up U.S. citizenship.
