📰News

🏐 Nearly 500 visitors from over 20 countries will arrive in Fort Wayne for the 2025 WPV Sitting ParaVolley World Cup, held October 12–18 at Turnstone’s Plassman Athletic Center. The event, featuring both men’s and women’s divisions, will include up to 16 national teams. It marks the first time the World Cup will be hosted in the U.S. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚴 The City of Fort Wayne is offering four free bicycle safety workshops for elementary-aged kids this summer. Led by the Fort Wayne Police Department Bike Patrol and Trek Fort Wayne, the sessions will cover safety tips, helmet fitting, bike maintenance, and end with a 1-mile guided ride. Free helmets and practice bikes will be available while supplies last. Read more from WANE 15 here.

📉 Ivy Tech Fort Wayne will lay off nine employees, eight staff members, and one faculty member as part of a larger reduction of 202 positions statewide. The move follows a five percent cut in state funding to higher education, with a potential for another five percent to be withheld. Ivy Tech has 45 locations across Indiana. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🍻 A witness to the Pike’s Pub beating says the attack was not about unpaid tabs. The victim, a regular customer, had his card ready to pay when the owner’s boyfriend, who was intoxicated, tried to force him out. Members of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club arrived and assaulted the victim with punches, kicks, and thrown chairs, using racial slurs. Police were called after the assault; the victim was hospitalized in fair condition but declined to name the attackers. The investigation is ongoing. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🗣️ Mayor Sharon Tucker responded to a viral attack at Pike’s Pub involving several white men in “Outlaw” vests beating a Black man while racial slurs were heard. The incident, which took place outside city limits, is under the jurisdiction of the Allen County Sheriff’s Department. Tucker affirmed her support for law enforcement and urged the community to unite in peace. Read the full statement from the mayor from WANE 15 here.

🛣️ In the aftermath of a viral video showing a group of white men wearing Outlaws Motorcycle Club vests beating up a Black man at a bar, WANE 15 looked into the organization and its ties to the Summit City. The Outlaws Motorcycle Club, founded in 1935, has 1,700+ members and is considered an outlaw motorcycle gang by the U.S. DOJ. The Fort Wayne chapter has faced multiple FBI raids, arrests, and federal charges. It was formerly listed as a nonprofit but dissolved in 2013. Read more from WANE 15 here.

📞 David Bubb, Executive Director of the Consolidated Communication Partnership for Fort Wayne and Allen County, has been suspended with pay and benefits. No official reason was provided. His employment status is under review, and it’s unclear how this affects his position on the Statewide 911 Board. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🔫 Two teens, 18-year-old Jayden Cosme and 19-year-old Jaylen Murray, face murder charges after 59-year-old Laron Duane Rosse was found shot to death in his home on Wells Street. The teens claim they acted in self-defense during a fight, but investigators say they acted together. Both were arrested after a traffic stop. Read more from WANE 15 here.
