⚖️ Angela Frost was awarded $987,000 by an Allen County jury after slipping on ice outside the Dupont Road Panera in Fort Wayne. Frost, a DoorDash driver, fell while picking up an order and broke her elbow, which required surgery and permanent hardware. Frost declined a $125,000 settlement offer before trial. Her lawyers argued Panera failed to follow safety protocols and allowed ice to build up. The jury found Panera 100% at fault. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🕳️ A small sinkhole on West Darrow Avenue near South Side High School is causing traffic problems on the narrow street. A traffic barrel covers the hole, but it’s not enough to keep drivers and bikers safe. A neighbor says she’s had to reset the barrel multiple times and has reported the issue to the city “numerous times” without any repairs yet. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚦 A new traffic light is now in place at West Washington Center and Industrial roads to help users safely cross as part of the Pufferbelly Trail project. The light will flash until July 8, when it becomes fully active, according to the City of Fort Wayne. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🦟 West Nile season starts in August. Last year, 39 mosquito pools in Allen County tested positive. Most people who get bitten don’t have symptoms, but some may get a fever, rash, or even serious issues like swelling in the brain. Experts say it’s important to use bug spray when you're outside. So far this year, all West Nile cases have been in southern states. You can check Indiana's mosquito case updates online. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🎭 The Fort Wayne Civic Theatre kicks off its 98th season with Escape to Margaritaville, a Jimmy Buffett musical full of beach vibes and fun. The show runs July 11–13 at the Clyde Theatre, with ticket prices based on showtime and age. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🎨 The Allen County Public Library has released new limited-edition library cards featuring downtown Fort Wayne murals. This launch, ahead of National Mural Day on June 28, continues a popular campaign that issued over 24,000 cards earlier this year. The four featured murals are “Guitar Experiment” by Alex Mendez and Alexandra Hall, “Panda Oops” by Tammy Davis, and “Big Peony” by Ouizi (Louise Jones). The cards are available now at all ACPL branches and online, free while supplies last. Read more from WANE 15 here.

After battling cancer twice, 13-year-old Theodore Price started Swings4Theo, a nonprofit that gives Fort Wayne TinCaps tickets to kids going through treatment. A lifelong baseball fan, Theo partnered with the team to donate four season tickets, helping other kids enjoy the game he loves. Theo hopes to keep spreading joy and awareness, saying, “I want to make their experience at least a little bit better.” To read more about Swings4Theo and to access these tickets, you can visit their website. 🚔 A man is in custody after firing at a New Haven officer during a traffic stop, leading to a police chase across Allen County. The suspect, who had felony warrants, was stopped in Fort Wayne by a PIT maneuver. No one was hurt, and the suspect is now in the Allen County Jail. ISP is handling the investigation, with part of Hessen Cassel near McKinnie Avenue still blocked off. Read more from WANE 15 here.
