A very hot and humid day is expected with a mix of sunshine and passing clouds pushing temperatures up to around 94°F. West-southwest winds of 10–20 mph will provide a steady breeze, but high humidity and a very high UV index will make it feel even hotter during the afternoon. Limit prolonged sun exposure, stay hydrated, and take breaks in the shade if spending time outdoors. The evening turns mostly clear and remains warm, with temperatures only falling to around 74°F overnight.

Heat Safety: Cooling Centers Available Across Indiana
• Heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees are expected throughout the workweek, and residents are urged to limit outdoor activities during the hottest hours.
• Indiana 211 offers a searchable list of cooling centers by zip code, including multiple locations in Fort Wayne and other northeast Indiana communities.
• Fort Wayne cooling centers include the Allen County Public Library Main Branch, Botanical Conservatory, Citylink Central Station, Inasmuch Ministry, The Rescue Mission, and The Salvation Army.

Parade Manager Prepares For Fort Wayne Fourth Of July Parade
• The Fourth of July parade returns Saturday at 10 a.m. with a new route running along Calhoun Street from Creighton Avenue to Main Street.
• Parade manager Jack Hammer said he organized the event with help from former Three Rivers Festival parade staff after being asked by Mayor Sharon Tucker.
• Organizers say the updated parade is intended to create a new tradition for the city.

East Central Neighborhood Unveils New Public Mural
•The new mural titled Rich History, Bright Future was dedicated near Coombs and Liberty Streets as part of the ShoutOut: Fort Wayne public art initiative.
•Created by local artist Julie Wall, the artwork honors the neighborhood's history, including the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma and Fort Wayne's first Black city councilman, John Nuckols.
•The mural was funded through the Public Art Giveback Program, which receives contributions from developers working with the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission.

Lighthouse Family Thrift Store Opens Second Fort Wayne Location
•The new north side store on East Coliseum Boulevard opened Monday to expand funding for The Lighthouse's community programs.
•Proceeds from both thrift stores support services including a food bank, counseling, and addiction recovery.

• The Pueblo Garden: Styles of the Southwest exhibit is now open at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory.
• The exhibit features cacti, floral displays, adobe inspired structures, Pueblo gardening techniques, and gardening tips.
• The exhibit will run through November during regular operating hours with standard admission fees.

Motorcycle Rider Dies After Southeast Fort Wayne Crash
•The Allen County Coroner identified the rider as 22 year old Ju Nine of Fort Wayne.
•The crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle happened Friday near Hessen Cassel Road and Maple Grove Avenue.
•The coroner ruled the death an accident after Nine died at a hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.

Wellness Investigation Draws Large Emergency Response
• Emergency crews responded to the abandoned GE building on the 1600 block of Broadway around 7 p.m. Sunday.
• The response included about 13 emergency vehicles with police, fire engines, and an ambulance.
• Authorities said they were conducting a wellness investigation, and one person was escorted from the building.

Woman Shot In Southeast Fort Wayne Expected To Recover
•Fort Wayne police responded to a shooting around 2:30 a.m. Monday on Suttenfield Street near Reservoir Park.
•A woman who was shot was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
•Police said the shooting remains under investigation.

Man Sentenced To Nine Years For Child Molesting Cases
• A 43 year old man was sentenced to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of child molesting in separate cases.
• One case involved secretly placing a pen camera in a bathroom to record a girl, according to court documents.
• A second victim reported repeated abuse over several years, and her personal journals were later provided to investigators.
