🦅 One National Story
Appeals Court Allows Expanded Use Of Speedy Deportations Nationwide
• A federal appeals court ruled that the Trump administration can resume using expedited removal procedures for undocumented migrants across the United States, not just near the border
• The decision overturned a lower court order that had temporarily blocked the policy, which allows certain migrants to be deported without appearing before an immigration judge
• The court majority said the policy provides sufficient notice and opportunity to respond, while critics argue it increases the risk of wrongful deportations and due process violations
Why it matters here:
The ruling gives the administration a powerful tool to accelerate deportations nationwide and could affect immigration enforcement, court backlogs, and due process debates ahead of the midterm elections.
