🚔 The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of the June 19 shooting near Rudisill Boulevard and Tacoma Avenue as Damontre Tayshon Burnett, 24, of Fort Wayne. He was found in a church parking lot and pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody the same night and faces a murder charge, though it’s unclear if he will be charged as an adult. Burnett’s death was ruled a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🔒 William Roy Darnell Britt, 37, of Fort Wayne, was arrested for allegedly burglarizing a home on Jimmerson Lake. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to a theft report involving coins and guns, leading to a search warrant at Britt’s home on Meredith Drive. Some stolen items were recovered. Britt faces felony charges for residential burglary with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He remains in the Steuben County Jail on a $60,000 bond. 👨‍⚖️ Gregory Watkins, now 15, was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the January 2024 killing of Christopher Easton, 15, in Fort Wayne. Watkins was 14 years old at the time of the shooting and was later found hiding in Tennessee. He was charged as an adult and accepted a plea deal, which led to the dismissal of a felony firearm charge at sentencing. The shooting happened on Vance Avenue, where Easton was found with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🌡️ A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Fort Wayne through Friday, with heat indices between 100–105 degrees expected daily. Highs near 95°F and overnight lows above 75°F will offer little relief. While early-week weather will stay mostly dry, scattered thunderstorms are possible Wednesday through Friday. Even with slight rain chances, heat and humidity will dominate the forecast. The weekend could see a slight break in intensity, but muggy conditions are expected to continue. Read more from WFFT here.

🏀 Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton tore his right Achilles tendon during Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to multiple reports. The injury occurred early in the first quarter after Haliburton started the game strong with three 3-pointers. He was helped off the court and later seen on crutches. Despite the team’s efforts, Indiana fell to the Thunder, who pulled away in the second half. Haliburton had been key to the Pacers' playoff run, hitting clutch shots and leading comebacks throughout the postseason. Read more from WFFT here.
