Fort Wayne City Council Delays Funding Vote For Proposed Homeless Center
• City Council voted 5 to 3 to hold $2.75 million in funding for the proposed Anchor Resource Center at 333 E. Washington Blvd. until Sept. 1.

Music On The Plaza Returns To Downtown Fort Wayne
• The Allen County Public Library will kick off its Music on the Plaza lunchtime concert series Wednesday with a performance by Los Electro.
• Concerts run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the Main Library Plaza and will move indoors if weather requires.
• Additional performances are scheduled for July 22 and Aug. 5, while Rock the Plaza will hold its final concert on July 18 before ending permanently.

FWPD Explains Protocol After Viral Arab Fest Removal Video
• Fort Wayne Police said officers were responding to a request from Arab Fest organizers to remove a man from the rented event space after complaints about his behavior.
• The department stated that event organizers controlling a rented space can ask someone to leave and refusal may result in a trespassing situation.
• Police also said officers are not required to call a supervisor upon request and emphasized that the incident involved enforcing a property request rather than regulating speech.

Rivergreenway Trail Users Raise Concerns About Trash And Encampments
• A Fort Wayne resident who regularly walks the Rivergreenway says he has noticed increasing trash and hazardous items along the trail.
• The resident also pointed to encampments near the trail and said safety concerns have changed how nearby residents use the area.
• City officials say Rivergreenway rangers regularly clean sections of the trail and encourage residents to report issues through 3-1-1.

Standoff Ends Peacefully At Fort Wayne Apartment Complex
• Fort Wayne Police responded to the Brookmill Court apartments Wednesday morning while attempting to serve a warrant.
• SWAT officers, an armored vehicle, and a crisis negotiator were called to the scene after police believed the suspect was hiding in an attic.
• The suspect surrendered peacefully at 1:36 p.m. and was taken into custody with minimal impact to nearby residents.

Man Taken Into Custody After Police Pursuit Through Fort Wayne
• Fort Wayne Police arrested a driver Wednesday after a pursuit that ended near Creighton Avenue and Reed Street.
• Officers said the chase began when a driver allegedly failed to stop for a traffic violation and later side-swiped another vehicle.
• Police said the suspect fled on foot through apartment buildings before being captured and hospitalized with minor injuries.

House Fire North Of Downtown Fort Wayne Extinguished
• Fire crews responded to a house fire in the 1100 block of Irene Avenue around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
• Firefighters found flames coming from a corner of the home and extinguished the fire within about 20 minutes.
• All occupants evacuated safely, no injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
