A warm and pleasant summer day is on tap with plenty of sunshine mixed with a few passing clouds. Afternoon temperatures reach around 87°F, while light easterly winds help keep conditions comfortable despite the warm weather. The UV index remains very high, so sunscreen and other sun protection are recommended during peak afternoon hours. The evening stays calm with partly cloudy skies and a mild overnight low near 65°F, making for comfortable conditions outdoors.

Eastbound Cook Road Lane Closure Scheduled For Reconstruction
•Eastbound Cook Road between Huguenard and Lima Roads will close beginning Monday, July 13.
•The restriction is part of Phase 2 of the W Cook Road street reconstruction project.
•The closure is expected to remain in place through Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Daytime Lane Closures Planned On Illinois Road
•Only one eastbound lane of Illinois Road between Avenue of Autos and Ansley Drive will be open from Wednesday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
•The temporary restrictions are part of the Illinois Road Trail and Road Improvement Project.
•Westbound traffic will remain open while the daytime lane closures are in effect.

Community Rallies Against Gun Violence In Fort Wayne
•Community members gathered Monday evening at Oliver and Greene Streets following a weekend of shootings that left two people dead and 11 others injured.
•Big Hearts Community Projects founder Roderick Parker organized the event to encourage community members to stand together against violence.
•The gathering included prayer and calls for action after multiple shootings across the city over the holiday weekend.

Allen County Juvenile Center Receives Grants For Youth Programs
•The Allen County Juvenile Center received two grants totaling $172,500 to expand youth intervention and family support programs.
•An $80,000 grant will fund a Handgun Intervention Program that mentors teens involved in firearm related offenses and promotes family engagement.
•A $92,500 grant will expand behavioral health services through partnerships with local organizations including Park Center, Building Kings Mentoring Group, Alive Community Outreach, and the Dana Foundation.

Fantasy Of Lights Hosting Christmas In July At YLNI Market
•Blue Jacket's Fantasy of Lights will host a Christmas in July booth at the YLNI Farmers Market on Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
•Visitors can purchase Fantasy of Lights and Wild Lights tickets at the lowest Fantasy of Lights price offered during the season.
•Santa will be at the booth from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for photos and candy canes at the corner of Lafayette and Berry streets.

State Details Healthy Indiana Plan Work Requirements
•Beginning Jan. 1, 2027, eligible Healthy Indiana Plan members ages 19 through 64 must complete 80 hours each month of work, job training, education, community service, or a combination of those activities.
•Applicants will be required to show they met the requirement during the previous three months when applying next year.
•Exemptions are available for certain circumstances including pregnancy, caregiving responsibilities, medical frailty, substance use disorder treatment, and recent release from incarceration.

•Bring It Push It Own It will host the Let's Glow Girls Summit for middle and high school girls on Friday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
•The summit will feature activities focused on confidence, self-expression, communication, and emotional coping skills.
•The event will be held at the Allen County Public Library Main Branch and scholarships are available for those with financial need.

Semi Driver Charged In Deadly I 69 Six Vehicle Crash
•A 70 year old semi driver has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide and one count of criminal recklessness after a June 3 crash that killed two people.
•Investigators said the semi was traveling about 73 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour construction zone and showed no evidence of braking before striking stopped vehicles.
•Court records state the driver's commercial license was not valid at the time of the crash and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Coroner Releases Cause Of Death In Tim Hortons Altercation Case
•The Allen County Coroner ruled that 75 year old Anita Grayson died from acute exacerbation of congestive heart failure in the setting of a physical altercation.
•The coroner determined the manner of death remains undetermined and reported no significant contributory injuries from the incident.
•The case remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office, and the Allen County Coroner's Office.

Suspect Arrested In Deadly Fort Wayne Gas Station Shooting
•Fort Wayne Police arrested a suspect Monday night in connection with the fatal shooting at the Shell gas station at Broadway and Taylor Street.
•The victim, 20 year old Lamond Rashod Goodier, died after suffering gunshot wounds during the early Sunday morning shooting.
•Police said 36 year old Cameron Mikell faces preliminary charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a violent felon.

Coroner Identifies Woman Killed In Oliver Street Shooting
•The Allen County Coroner identified the victim as 18 year old Jayla Raquel Davis of Fort Wayne.
•Davis died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head and her death was ruled a homicide.
•Eight other people were injured in the shooting and the investigation remains ongoing.

Fort Wayne Man Charged With Child Exploitation Case Involving AI
•A 33 year old Fort Wayne man has been charged with child exploitation and possession of child sexual abuse material.
•Court records say investigators found alleged AI generated explicit images and videos depicting a 12 year old girl after a forensic examination of the man's phone.
•A warrant has been issued for the man's arrest and court records show no initial hearing has been scheduled.

Copenhagen Named World’s Most Livable City for 2026
• Copenhagen claimed the top spot for the second straight year, followed by Vienna and Melbourne in the Economist Intelligence Unit's annual rankings of 173 cities.
• The rankings measured stability, healthcare, education, infrastructure and culture, with Copenhagen earning perfect scores for stability, infrastructure and education.
• Nine Asian cities finished in the top 20, while New York climbed to 66th and Honolulu remained the highest ranked U.S. city at 25th.
