🎆 Looking for fireworks this Fourth of July? WANE 15 compiled a full list of shows happening in Fort Wayne and nearby communities. Locally, you can catch the main show downtown at the Indiana Michigan Power building at 10 p.m. Other shows are happening across northeast Indiana, including Bluffton, Berne, Kendallville, Syracuse, and more some even extending into the weekend. Ohio neighbors can catch displays in Delphos, Van Wert, and Defiance. Read more from WANE 15 here.
📈 Community Transportation Network (CTN) is raising rates on August 1 due to rising costs in driver pay, insurance, gas, and vehicle maintenance. The base fare for the lowest income tier will increase from $5 to $8, and a mileage surcharge of $1 per mile will be added for trips over five miles. CTN provides around 20,000 medical rides annually, mainly to seniors and people with disabilities in Fort Wayne and Allen County. Executive Director Justin Clupper said the new model better aligns with reimbursement systems and ensures service sustainability. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚧 A train blocked the intersection of South Anthony Boulevard and Wayne Trace for several hours on Thursday, starting around 9 a.m. Norfolk Southern confirmed the delay was due to a team building a train out of the yard and expected it to move by 1:45 p.m. The company said stopped trains can happen due to congestion, crew rest requirements, mechanical issues, or signal outages. Norfolk Southern stated it works to minimize these disruptions and keep trains moving safely. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚖 To help reduce impaired driving over the holiday weekend, Sober Ride Indiana is offering $10 off Uber and Lyft rides from July 3–7 in Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. The credits apply to rides taken between 5 p.m. and 3 a.m. each day and are available while supplies last. Reservations aren't eligible, and tips or charges over $10 aren’t covered. The program, run by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, aims to keep roads safer during one of the year’s deadliest holidays for traffic crashes. For more information, and to redeem ride share credits, visit Sober Ride Indiana here. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🏫 Nearly $4.5 million in promised federal Title funding is being withheld from Fort Wayne’s public and private schools, just one month before the 2025–26 school year begins. The delay impacts thousands of students, including more than 200 adult learners who rely on these programs to earn high school equivalency diplomas. Fort Wayne Community Schools’ superintendent is urging federal officials to release the funds so students can begin the school year with the support they need. Read more from WFFT here.
🐘 Purdue Fort Wayne unveiled new athletics logos, removing the historic touch of blue in favor of a full black and gold color scheme. The university says the change helps cut costs on gear and uniforms and reflects a stronger tie to Purdue branding. Other updates include a bolder font highlighting “Fort Wayne,” the removal of the shield behind the mastodon head, and a refreshed “Feel the Rumble” slogan. The redesign was completed in-house at no additional cost. Read more from WANE 15 here.
👶 Dupont Hospital delivered 281 babies in June setting a new monthly record in its 24-year history. The previous record was 272 deliveries in August 2024. Hospital CEO Brent Parsons credited the milestone to the trust of Fort Wayne families and the dedication of the hospital’s maternity team. He praised the staff’s efforts in making each delivery a positive and memorable experience. Dupont Hospital plans to continue building on this legacy of exceptional maternal and newborn care. 🛍️ Following its February bankruptcy filing, the Three Rivers Festival is auctioning off its assets online through Krueckeberg Auction in Decatur. The auction includes vintage festival memorabilia, such as complete button sets, posters dating back to 1974, festival equipment, a Polaris SlingShot, a John Deere Gator, and the Admiral Andy mascot costume. Bidding is open now and ends August 6. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🔫 A 19-year-old woman, Angel Galbreath, was arrested after reportedly stealing a gun from a security guard and firing a shot into the ceiling at Charis House, a women’s homeless shelter in Fort Wayne. The incident happened Tuesday night during a fight in which Galbreath allegedly attacked another woman, kicked a guard, and used the stolen weapon to strike him. She faces five felony charges including robbery, battery with a deadly weapon, and pointing a firearm. Her initial court hearing is scheduled for Thursday. Read more from WANE 15 here.

⚾ The TinCaps fell 8-2 to the Lansing Lugnuts during “Paws & Claws Night” at Parkview Field. Despite a fun night for canine fans, Fort Wayne’s offense struggled, managing just seven hits compared to Lansing’s 15. Reliever Sean Barnett gave up five earned runs in less than an inning. Jack Costello and Jacob Campbell each contributed an RBI, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. The series continues Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Read more from WANE 15 here.
