☕ Biggby Coffee is set to open a new location at Bluffton Road and Airport Expressway sometime in July. The exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet, but final interior touches and inspections are still underway. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🛑 Starting Monday, July 8, the Bluffton Road Bridge in Fort Wayne will be reduced to a single lane of traffic at a time as part of a reconstruction phase expected to last through October. Traffic will alternate directions using long red-light signals, with additional congestion expected near the intersection of Bluffton Road and Broadway. Temporary traffic signals will help manage flow, but drivers are strongly encouraged to take alternate routes like Lower Huntington Road or Airport Expressway. Read more from WFFT here.
🎓 Over 400 degree programs across Indiana’s public colleges are being cut or merged under new requirements in the state budget, which took effect July 1. The rule requires programs to meet a minimum number of graduates over three years or face elimination. Purdue University plans to merge or consolidate 70 programs, mostly at its Fort Wayne campus. Critics say the decision lacked transparency and limits student access and academic diversity. Still, officials say students currently enrolled won’t be affected. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚧 Fort Wayne crews are actively repairing sidewalks, starting in Waynedale one of the most neglected areas. Since 2024, over 100 miles of trip hazards have been fixed. Current focus areas include St. Louis Avenue, Lagoma Drive, and Old Trail Road. The repairs are part of the long-term Waynedale 2040 plan to improve safety and walkability. Residents can report damaged sidewalks by calling 311 or use a cost-sharing option for faster repairs. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🎭 Arts United has awarded $127,424 in 2025 Regional Arts Council Capacity Grants to 15 nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in Northeast Indiana. Since launching in 2022, the program has distributed nearly $500,000 to 32 organizations. Read more from WFFT here.

The award highlights the work of Lutheran’s multidisciplinary team and their commitment to improving patient outcomes. Read more from WFFT here.
💣 Fort Wayne police responded to a mental health call Tuesday at a home on Franklin Avenue and discovered a “destructive device” made with gunpowder and a fuse. The bomb squad safely secured the device, described as a container with American Pioneer Powder and a green fuse. Guns were also removed under Indiana’s “Red Flag” law.
