Morning thunderstorms likely (50% chance), then cloudy through the afternoon. High of 86°F with high humidity at 80%, it’ll feel muggy. UV index is high, so don’t forget sunscreen if you’re outside. Friday night stays warm and cloudy, with a low of 72°F. Light winds and very humid at 90%. The Waxing Crescent moon rises at 7:10 AM and sets at 9:58 PM.

🎒 Super Shot is hosting two free vaccination clinics on July 24 and July 31 from 4–7 p.m. Kids who get vaccinated will receive a backpack with supplies (while supplies last). The events also feature food, fun, and a resource fair. Walk-ins accepted as space allows. Parents must accompany kids under 18. 🎶 Fort Wayne’s own Kangaroo Kourt performed Wednesday as part of the free Muddy River Concert Series at Promenade Park. Shows run every other Wednesday through Aug. 27 and include live music, food, and drinks from Ted’s Snack + Bar. To learn more about Muddy Rivers Concert Series, click here.
🌉 The Mechanic Street Bridge, built in 1898, has been fully restored in a $1.27 million project completed Thursday. It reconnects Swinney Park with nearby neighborhoods like Nebraska, Hamilton, and North Highlands. Crews used digital scans to match and rebuild damaged parts, followed by painting and landscaping. 🗣️ Mayor Sharon Tucker will lead a public discussion on youth violence on Wednesday, July 30, from 6–7:30 p.m. at the Allen County Public Library Main Branch. The event includes Police Chief Scott Caudill, community leaders, and moderator Andrew Downs. Registration is required, and questions can be submitted online. Read more from WFFT here.
📻 WBOI, northeast Indiana’s NPR station, sold its downtown Fort Wayne building at 210 E. Jefferson Blvd. to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on June 27 due to rising renovation costs and significant state and federal funding cuts. The station has lost over $200,000 in annual support, representing about 10% of its budget. President Travis Pope says WBOI remains committed to serving the public despite possible changes to programming. Read more from WANE 15 here.

The national honor recognizes excellence in operations, member services, and community impact. Leaders say the award reflects strong local collaboration and commitment to growth. 💪 Fort Wayne jumped to No. 77 in the 2025 American Fitness Index, beating Indianapolis at No. 92. The city tied with Plano, Texas, for the biggest rise in aerobic activity. The report shows growing local health efforts and a national boost in fitness habits. Fort Wayne’s momentum is seen as a sign of positive change, and officials are encouraged to keep the movement going. Read more from WFFT here.
🔫 Jamoni Lee Burton, 19, has been charged in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Kardenai Hollis early Saturday morning at River Run Trail apartments. Police say anonymous tips, witness statements, and a search of Burton’s home led to the arrest. Officers found a gun and ammo matching the crime scene. Read more from WANE 15 here.
👮 FWPD arrested four men Tuesday, including East Noble School Board Secretary Scott Truelove, for public indecency in Fort Wayne parks. Truelove has since resigned. The arrests are part of ongoing patrols targeting inappropriate activity in areas like Swinney Park and Lindenwood Nature Preserve. Gerardot said. “The parks are for families and for people who want to enjoy the park, enjoy nature, and not have to see that.” Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚨 A woman died early Thursday after rear-ending a semitrailer on US 30 near the Allen-Whitley County line. The semi was stopped at a light when the crash occurred around 3 a.m. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not injured. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚌 A man is in life-threatening condition after tripping and falling under a moving Citilink bus Thursday on Illinois Road, according to FWPD. He had just exited the bus when he fell near the rear wheels. The crash briefly closed westbound traffic near Hillegas Road. Police are asking additional witnesses to call 260-427-1222. ⚾ The Fort Wayne TinCaps fell 5-4 to the Cedar Rapids Kernels after a two-run, walk-off single by Kyle De Barge in the ninth inning. Braedon Karpathios had a strong game with two hits and two RBIs, while Leo De Vries went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
