🎵 Lunch on the Square is winding down for the season, with just a few weeks left to enjoy the free weekly event in downtown Fort Wayne. 🌽 Heavy weekend rain brought relief to Aunt Gena’s Gourmet Sweet Corn farm in Hicksville, after a dry, hot summer made it hard to grow quality corn. Co-owner Steve Nye said this season has been one of the driest since 2012, affecting crop size and appearance, though not taste. Rainfall brings natural nitrogen that irrigation lacks, improving overall quality. Nye called the recent two-inch rain “million-dollar rain” and expects the best ears of corn to be ready in about a month. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚗 A crash on I-69 southbound near the 303 mile-marker caused a traffic jam Monday afternoon, July 21, on Fort Wayne’s west side near Illinois Road. By 3 p.m., traffic was flowing again. Few details about the crash have been released. Read more from WANE 15 here.

The victim is described as a Black male, 15–20 years old, 5'11" tall, weighing around 123 pounds, with a chipped front tooth. He was wearing a black hoodie that said “tomorrow isn’t promised” with a cross and the word “faith,” and black Reebok slides. Authorities believe he may not be from the area. Anyone with information is urged to contact police. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🔫 A man was shot and killed by Fort Wayne police on Monday afternoon, July 21, after allegedly pointing a gun at officers near West State Boulevard and Cass Street. Police had responded to reports of a suicidal man with a gun. Shortly before 1 p.m., the man reportedly made concerning statements and brandished a weapon at officers, who then fired. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. The exact number of officers involved and whether the man fired his weapon remain unclear. The incident is under investigation by FWPD, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and Indiana State Police. Read more from WANE 15 here.
