🎺 The Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s Patriotic Pops concert returned to Parkview Field last Monday 8 PM. 🎆 A garage storing fireworks was destroyed in a fire Sunday night on West State Boulevard in Fort Wayne. Fire crews arrived within three minutes to find the garage and a vehicle engulfed in flames. Nearby buildings had minor heat damage, and a power line was destroyed. No one was inside, and no injuries were reported. The fire was under control in 11 minutes. The cause is still under investigation. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🎸 Fort Wayne honored blues artist G-Money, also known as Gary Brabson, with a three-hour musical tribute Sunday at The Clyde Theater. Brabson, who passed away in May, was remembered for his talent, humility, and dedication to supporting local musicians through events like Monday Night Blues Jam Sessions. Attendees shared stories, performed music, and raised donations to support Brabson’s family. The Clyde plans to continue the jam sessions in his memory. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🧩 Samantha Drudge, program coordinator for My Autism Ally, is making Fort Wayne events more inclusive through initiatives like Sensory Alley. This quieter space at BuskerFest offers swings, lounge chairs, and paths for individuals on the autism spectrum to take a break from the excitement. In 2024, Sensory Alley supported 4,500 people. Drudge’s efforts help families stay longer and enjoy more of the festivities. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚗 The Allen County Coroner has identified 35-year-old Timothy Wayne Lepper as the man killed in a rollover crash on June 19 near Hoagland. Deputies found a pickup truck that had rolled over, ejecting Lepper from the vehicle. He died from multiple blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled accidental. Lepper is the 24th traffic fatality in Allen County this year. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚓 Delshawn Demetrius Young, 25, is facing multiple charges after allegedly shooting at a New Haven officer and leading a high-speed chase into Fort Wayne. Court documents say Young fired at least four shots before fleeing, during which a woman and child exited the vehicle. Police later stopped him using a PIT maneuver and found a gun and ammunition in the car. Charges include attempted murder, gun possession, neglect, and resisting law enforcement. Young remains in jail without bond. Read more from WANE 15 here.
⚖️ Thirteen Indiana residents have been charged in connection with what the Department of Justice calls the largest healthcare fraud investigation in its history. The operation uncovered over $14.6 billion in fraud involving 324 people nationwide. Two Hoosiers were federally indicted: one for faking vet prescriptions to get controlled substances, and another for allegedly selling opioids on the black market. Eleven more Indiana healthcare workers face state charges for fraud, drug diversion, and falsifying records. Read more from WANE 15 here.
