The hottest day of the week is expected with abundant sunshine and afternoon temperatures soaring to around 95°F. A west-southwest breeze of 10–15 mph will offer only limited relief as high humidity and a very high UV index make it feel even hotter. Heat safety is important—stay well hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and avoid prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon. The evening remains warm and pleasant under mostly clear skies, with temperatures easing to around 73°F overnight.

AAA Offers Free Holiday Weekend Rides For Impaired Drivers
• AAA's Tow to Go program will provide free, confidential rides and vehicle towing up to 10 miles from 6 p.m. on July 3 through 6 a.m. on July 6.
• The service is available to anyone in Fort Wayne, regardless of AAA membership.
• Drivers can request a tow by calling 855-286-9246, but advance reservations are not available.

Construction Begins On Fort Wayne's First Robot Built Home
• Rival Holdings is building what it says is the first U.S. home constructed using AUAR robotic MicroFactory technology near Electric Works.
• Robots create precision wall panels that are later assembled on site by local construction professionals.
• Company leaders say the technology is designed to speed up home construction while helping workers build more homes, not replace them.

Power Restored After Large Outage West Of Downtown
• Around 2,100 Indiana Michigan Power customers west of downtown Fort Wayne lost electricity Monday evening.
• Power was restored by about 6:15 p.m., roughly 30 minutes after the outage began.
• The cause of the outage has not been announced.

FWACC Launches $5 Cat Adoption Sale
• Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control is offering $5 cat and kitten adoptions through Thursday as the shelter nears capacity.
• The shelter says hundreds of cats are available for adoption, with more than 300 others currently in foster care.
• Adopted pets are vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and spayed or neutered before going to their new homes.

FWFD Shares Heat Safety Tips During Extreme Temperatures

Foellinger Theatre Hosts Free Summer Concert
• The Fort Wayne Jazz Orchestra will perform a free concert Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. as part of the 2026 Foellinger Theatre Summer Concert Series.
• Two additional free concerts are scheduled with the New Millennium Jazz Orchestra on July 8 and the Fort Wayne Children's Choir on July 31.

Combat Ops Fundraiser Supports Local Veterans
• Combat Ops Family Entertainment Center is hosting Operation Combat Hunger on Tuesday from noon to 7 p.m. in partnership with Community Harvest Food Bank.
• The event benefits the Hope for Heroes program, which provides food to veterans and military families, through food donations and fundraising.
• Combat Ops will donate 30% of event proceeds to the program, and online purchases using the code "Heroes" also support the fundraiser through Tuesday.

Fort Wayne Student Returns To National Youth Jazz Orchestra
• Seventeen-year-old Braxton Headley is the only returning student selected for this summer's NYO Jazz ensemble of top musicians ages 16 to 19.
• The group will perform at Carnegie Hall before touring Asia with stops in Shanghai, Bangkok, and Taiwan.
• Later this summer, Headley will also participate in the Vail Jazz Workshop, which includes 12 students from across the country.

Fort Wayne Woman Accused Of Supplying THC Products To High School Student
• A 28 year old Fort Wayne woman is charged with dealing and conspiracy after investigators said she worked with a Huntington North High School student to sell THC products to other students.
• Police began investigating after a parent reported finding a THC vape, leading officers to nearly 20 THC products allegedly stored in a classroom filing cabinet.
• Investigators say Cash App records showed transactions believed to be tied to THC and nicotine sales, and the woman declined to speak with police through her attorney.

Supreme Court Upholds Birthright Citizenship And Rejects Trump Restrictions
• The Supreme Court ruled 6 to 3 that children born in the United States remain citizens under the 14th Amendment, rejecting President Donald Trump's executive order.
• Chief Justice John Roberts wrote that the Constitution guarantees citizenship to nearly everyone born in the country, with only limited exceptions.
• The ruling leaves birthright citizenship unchanged nationwide and means any future change would require a constitutional amendment rather than a new law.
