Expect a mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday, with a few scattered showers or thunderstorms possible throughout the day. It will be warm and muggy, with a high of 87°F and humidity at 76%. Winds from the southwest will keep the air moving, and the UV index is high, so be cautious during any sunny breaks. Wednesday night stays warm and partly cloudy, with a low of 73°F and high humidity at 85%. Winds remain light from the southwest.

🎒 Catholic Charities’ Auburn office is asking for help after losing a grant that supported its Pack-A-Backpack program. The initiative provides over 300 backpacks with school supplies to local children. Donations are being accepted through July 30 at their Auburn office, churches, and local businesses. 🎁 Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne is encouraging community donations to its ReStore facility in honor of National Give Something Away Day. On July 15, donors can drop off gently-used items at 4747 Lima Road from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. via a staffed drive-thru lane. Donors will receive ReStore coupons, popcorn, and Habitat merchandise. 🍩 A new Dunkin’ Donuts is set to open in downtown Fort Wayne on May 31, 2026. The store, located at 1117 S. Clinton Street, will be about 1,000 square feet and include a drive-through. Crews will soon begin demolishing the current structure to make way for the new building. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚗 A multi-vehicle crash backed up traffic Tuesday afternoon on southbound I-69 near the Goshen Road interchange. Injuries were reported, but those involved declined medical attention. Traffic delays extended past the Coldwater Road interchange. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🎓 Indiana Tech is offering a 20% tuition discount on online degrees for members of Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) through a new partnership. The discount applies to undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs. Starting with the class of 2025, graduates of YLNI’s Leadership Institute will also receive credit toward an Executive Leadership course. The partnership has been in development for years and supports YLNI’s mission to grow future leaders in the region. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🛂 A new Indiana law now requires bar bouncers who check IDs to hold employee permits, similar to bartenders and servers. House Enrolled Act 1275 expanded the definition of “alcohol servers” to include these roles. Many Fort Wayne bars were unaware of the change, which took effect July 1. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🦟 Allen County’s annual mosquito control program is in full swing. Crews began inspecting and treating breeding sites in May, with mosquito disease testing starting July 7. Three samples have tested positive for West Nile Virus so far this summer. Residents are urged to eliminate standing water and use repellents to help reduce mosquito populations. 🚂 Fort Wayne resident Dick Roe, 94, has built 24 wooden trains since picking up the hobby after his wife’s passing. Inspired by a friend’s model trains, he started crafting them for his grandkids and now donates them to hospitals like Parkview and Lutheran. Roe doesn’t accept money, instead encouraging donations to pediatric hospitals. His goal: making kids smile. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🔫 Travell Daniels pleaded guilty to felony neglect after his 2-year-old son was shot and killed at their Fort Wayne home in January 2024. Daniels admitted to keeping a loaded Glock 23 under his pillow, then leaving the room. Minutes later, he heard a gunshot. His sentence is capped at 25 years under a plea deal, with sentencing set for August 4. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🏌️♀️ Taylor Larkins, a rising senior at Carroll High School, captured her first Fort Wayne Women’s Golf Association City Tournament title Monday at Coyote Creek. Larkins finished one-over par with a total score of 145. She held off a late push from runner-up Cassidy Ayres and became one of the youngest winners in tournament history at just 17.
