• Savor Fort Wayne, originally scheduled for January 14–25, will be extended for more than 50 restaurants.
• The program encourages the community to support local businesses during a slow business period.

Girl Scouts Of Northern Indiana-Michiana 2026 Cookie Season Starts Friday
• The 2026 cookie season begins this Friday in Northern Indiana-Michiana.
• A new cookie, Exploremores, features chocolate, marshmallow, and toasted almond-flavored creme.
• Classic cookies like Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, and Peanut Butter Patties will also be available, and the season runs through March 16.

Woman Sentenced For Stabbing At Freimann Square
• Josie Bodah pleaded guilty to battery for a July stabbing and received a three-year sentence with two and a half years suspended.
• She has 188 days of jail credit and must follow a no-contact order, mental health evaluation, and substance abuse evaluation as part of probation.
• The knife used in the incident will be destroyed, according to the court’s order.

Coroner Identifies Woman Killed In Fort Wayne Apartment Fire
• A fire was reported just after 4 a.m. Sunday at Coventry Court West Apartments on Getz Road.
• Firefighters found 21-year-old Shaylea Rae Gaona inside and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
• The coroner ruled her death an accident and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Indianapolis Man Identified As Victim In Fatal Weekend Shooting In Fort Wayne
• Police found a man with a gunshot wound on Pemberton Drive near East State Boulevard Saturday evening, and he later died at a hospital.
• The victim was identified as 31-year-old Khiry Van Wilkens from Indianapolis, and his death was ruled a homicide.
• This incident is the first homicide in Allen County in 2026, and police are asking anyone with information to contact FWPD, Crime Stoppers, or submit a tip via the P3 Tips app.

INDOT Deploys 900 Plows For Winter Storm Cleanup
• INDOT deployed more than 900 plows and over 1,600 operators statewide to respond to the winter storm.
