A frigid day with lake effect snow in the morning and clouds hanging around most of the day. Highs only reach about 10°F with west winds near 15 to 25 mph making it feel even colder. Tonight turns mostly clear but stays bitter, with lows around -1°F and a steady southwest breeze.

Fort Wayne woman sentenced for assisting suspect in 2025 double homicide
• Quenecia Gaylor, 38, was sentenced to six years in prison with three years suspended after pleading guilty to assisting another suspect in a 2025 double homicide case.
• The case stems from a June 26, 2025 shootout at a southeast Fort Wayne home where two people died, identified as Tornor Dejuan Doby, 28, and Anisha Denise Jackson, 39.
• As part of the plea deal, two murder counts and a burglary charge were dismissed, and she was ordered to pay $10,377 to a family member of one of the victims.

Why your neighborhood streets may not be plowed yet
• Fort Wayne plows follow a three tier priority system that starts with arterial main roads, then collector roads and Citilink bus routes, then residential streets.
• Residential streets may not be plowed unless at least three inches of snow is on the ground.
• The city said plows were still focused on arterial main roads Sunday evening, and residential streets can take up to 48 hours to be cleared during heavy snowfall.

Indiana activates emergency operations for winter storm
• The Indiana Department of Homeland Security activated the State Emergency Operations Center at noon on Saturday, January 24.
• Gov. Mike Braun mobilized highway assistance teams from the Indiana National Guard for dangerous road conditions expected in some areas.
• Braun signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency and directing all executive branch agencies to assist the state response led by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

Man dies after shooting on Pemberton Drive in Fort Wayne
• Police responded at 5:55 p.m. Saturday to a reported traffic incident involving two vehicles on Pemberton Drive near East State Boulevard.
• Officers found a man with a gunshot wound, provided life saving aid, and medics took him to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
• The Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Unit is investigating and police said there are no indications the public is in danger.

Electrical fire rekindles and destroys northeast Fort Wayne home
• Crews were dispatched at 4:22 a.m. Sunday to the 3800 block of Evergreen Lane and found a one story house with fire through a partially collapsed roof.
• Firefighters had previously been called to the same home for an electrical fire in the attic, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
• No one was home and no injuries were reported, and the fire was controlled within 50 minutes while the cause remains under investigation.

TSA to charge $45 fee for travelers without a REAL ID starting Feb. 1
• Beginning February 1, travelers without a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification will have to use TSA ConfirmID and pay a $45 fee to board a US domestic flight.
• ConfirmID lets travelers enter their information online, pay the fee, and bring a receipt plus a government ID to the TSA checkpoint for verification.
• The fee is non refundable and is valid for 10 days from the travel start date entered into the system.

Federal and state officials clash over Minneapolis immigration crackdown after shooting
• Gov. Tim Walz urged federal immigration officers to leave Minnesota after the Saturday shooting death of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.
• Border Patrol senior official Greg Bovino said Pretti interfered in an active law enforcement scene and blamed the shooting on his actions.
• Video reviewed by The Associated Press appears to contradict administration statements that agents fired defensively, and a federal judge ordered evidence related to the shooting preserved ahead of a Monday hearing in St. Paul.
