FAA Briefly Halts Flights over El Paso Amid Potential Military Drone Activity
• The FAA temporarily restricted all flights within a 10 nautical mile radius of El Paso Airport for special security reasons.
• A source said the halt was a preemptive step tied to potential military drone activity, though officials stressed there was no threat to commercial aviation.
• The restriction was lifted hours later, and the FAA said all flights have resumed as normal.
Why it matters here:
Temporary airspace closures can disrupt travel with little notice and show how security operations can quickly ripple into civilian transportation.
