Expect a mix of sun and clouds with a slight chance of an isolated shower during the day. Highs near 83°F with comfortable humidity at 63%. Light east winds will keep things mild. In the evening, a calm, comfy night ahead with just a few clouds drifting by. Great evening for stargazing!

📰News

🚗 A crash on I-69 southbound near the 293 mile-marker caused a traffic jam Monday afternoon in southwestern Allen County. The Indiana Department of Transportation reported a temporary closure of the left-hand lane. It’s still unclear what caused the crash or if there were any injuries. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🛝 Northwest Allen County Schools partnered with the AWS Foundation, PlayPros, BF Goodrich, and United Way to build a fully accessible playground at Perry Hill Elementary. Volunteers installed most of the playground in one day despite scorching heat. The project supports developmental preschool students transitioning to the school and will be open to the community after hours. Final turf installation is scheduled for August 11. 📚 With schools in Allen County set to reopen soon, Indiana State Police and local law enforcement are reminding drivers to follow school bus safety laws. Officers stress the importance of obeying flashing red and yellow bus lights and warn that violations captured by bus stop cameras can result in mailed citations. ISP also encourages parents to dress kids in bright clothes for visibility during early morning walks. Expect increased police presence in school zones and stricter enforcement of speeding laws. 🔥 Firefighters responded to a house fire on Kentucky Avenue around 5 p.m. Saturday. The fire, coming from the back entrance of a two-story home, was fully extinguished within 20 minutes by the Fort Wayne Fire Department. After a full search, firefighters discovered three dogs that had died in the fire. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🌫️ Canadian wildfire smoke will affect air quality across the region on Tuesday. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared an Air Quality Action Day, with levels expected to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range. Active children, adults, and those with respiratory conditions like asthma should avoid strenuous outdoor activity. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🔍 Police responded to a shooting report Sunday afternoon in the 900 block of Morrow Way near Franke Park. Officers found two adults dead at the scene. The identities and cause of death are still under investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department, Crime Stoppers, or submit a tip via the P3 Tips app. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🚨 Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Fort Wayne police responded to a shooting in the 900 block of 3rd Street near Sherman Boulevard. One person was hospitalized in life-threatening condition. The Fort Wayne Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Read more from WANE 15 here.

The TinCaps snapped their losing streak with a 5–2 win over the Great Lakes Loons at Parkview Field on Sunday. Playing as the “Manzanas Luchadores,” Fort Wayne scored all five runs in the second inning, with key hits from Ryan Jackson and Kasen Wells.
