🎭 The Fort Wayne Youtheatre is launching its Academy season on Saturday, September 6. Artistic Director Christopher Murphy and student Alivia Wheeler shared details about the 2025 classes, and registration is now open for young actors interested in joining. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🧩 My Autism Ally’s Autism Acceptance Walk is returning Sunday, September 7, at the Allen County Fairgrounds in Fort Wayne. The annual fundraiser will be held rain or shine, and teams can still register to participate. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🥎 The USA Patriots, an all-amputee veteran softball team, played in a tournament Saturday at Fort Wayne Turners to raise funds for kids’ camps for amputee children. Teams from local fire and police departments, the 122nd Air Guard Blacksnakes, active army veterans, and the 293rd Army Guard also participated. The event featured 30 raffles, jersey sales, and a silent auction with sports memorabilia. Organizers highlighted the importance of honoring veterans’ sacrifices and service. 🏘️ Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker and developer Jerry Starks broke ground Thursday on Phase II of Roosevelt Reserves, a major single-family subdivision in southeast Fort Wayne. Phase I included 49 lots, and Phase II adds 30 more. The $5 million project is expected to grow with Phase III, which will feature 50 lots and commercial development. Legacy funds approved in 2023 helped cover infrastructure costs, with a residential TIF district set to reimburse them. 🏡 The City of Fort Wayne is creating a housing catalog to help small contractors build on vacant lots in urban neighborhoods. City Council voted 7-0 to recommend giving $120,000 to Flintlock LAB to design the catalog, which will feature pre-approved housing plans. Officials hope this effort will reduce development costs, encourage small-scale builders, and revitalize neighborhoods while addressing the city’s housing shortage. 🏭 A fire broke out Sunday at a manufacturing facility on the 9100 block of Yeager Lane in southwest Fort Wayne. Fire crews arrived at 11:10 a.m. after alarms went off, finding smoke inside the building. The sprinkler system contained the fire in a manufacturing area, and firefighters worked to limit water damage and clear smoke. The building was unoccupied, and no injuries were reported. 🚔 A man was shot Saturday night in the 4400 block of Bowser Avenue on Fort Wayne’s south side. Police responded just before 9:30 p.m. and found the victim with life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, and the case remains under investigation. ⚾ The Fort Wayne TinCaps staged one of their biggest comebacks of the season, erasing a 4-0 deficit to beat Lake County 5-4 on Saturday. Lake County built its early lead with runs in the second and third innings, but the TinCaps answered with RBI hits from Kai Roberts, Sean Barnett, and Brendan Durfee. In the ninth, Lamar King Jr. tied the game with an RBI single, followed by Kasen Wells’ go-ahead double. Ryan Mallitz closed the game in the ninth for the win. Read more from WANE 15 here.
