🚑 Courageous Healing, Inc. in Fort Wayne has been awarded $1 million through Indiana’s Mobile Crisis Accelerator Program (MCAP) to launch a 24/7 mobile crisis response team. The effort aims to reduce unnecessary ER visits and jail time by responding to mental health and addiction-related crises directly in the community. Calls will come through 988, 911, and partner referrals, with services focusing on culturally centered, trauma-informed care. 🍎 Salomon Farm Park will host a cider tasting on Friday, Sept. 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Guests will enjoy a five-course lineup of ciders in 2 oz. pours, paired with small foods. The event is $50 per person, open to ages 21 and up, with registration required by Aug. 29. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🎤 Comedian Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias will perform in Fort Wayne on Nov. 20 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum as part of his “1976 Tour: A Fluffy Celebration.” Pre-sale tickets open Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 12 p.m., with general sales starting Friday, Aug. 22, at 12 p.m. Iglesias is among the world’s most successful stand-up comedians, known for selling out major venues worldwide. 🏡 Bridge of Grace Ministries in Southeast Fort Wayne is revitalizing neighborhoods by renovating homes and helping families transition to homeownership. Since 2016, the group has renovated 36 homes. This week, they handed keys to new homeowner Yessica Michell Loaiza, who said the purchase was for her children’s future. The nonprofit has a 10-year plan to add 150 homes through new builds and renovations, with the first phase starting in spring 2026. 💊 Applications for Fort Wayne’s opioid settlement funds will open Sept. 2 and close Oct. 2 at midnight, Mayor Sharon Tucker announced Tuesday. A seven-member committee, created earlier this year to oversee the process, will recommend allocations by the end of October. 🏗️ The proposed Coldwater Commons development advanced Monday as the Fort Wayne Plan Commission approved both its rezoning petition and Primary Development Plan. Developer Robert Warstler agreed to exclude certain C-2 zoning uses to align with tenant needs. The plan, approved with conditions, will next go to City Council for consideration, while the final development plan will be finalized before construction permits are issued. 🚓 Fort Wayne has opened a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a single towing company to handle recovery, storage, and salvage services under a five-year contract starting November 3. Bids are due September 15, with requirements including a 20-minute response time, business presence in Allen County, and at least five years of towing experience. The RFP also addresses whether felons can work as tow drivers, requiring annual background checks and City Law Department approval for employees with felony records. Read more from WANE 15 here.

⚖️ Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, was arrested Saturday in Washington, D.C. for allegedly making threats against President Trump on social media. From August 2–15, posts from her Instagram and Facebook accounts called for his removal and labeled him a terrorist. Jones admitted to making the threats during interviews with the U.S. Secret Service, which led to her arrest. She faces charges of threatening to harm the President and transmitting threats across state lines. Read more from WLFI here.

🏒 The Fort Wayne Komets added defenseman Dru Krebs and forward Paxton Leroux to their 2025-26 roster, now at 20 players. Krebs, 22, turned pro last season, playing in the AHL and ECHL after a WHL career with the Medicine Hat Tigers. He was drafted by the Washington Capitals in 2021 and is the younger brother of Buffalo Sabres forward Peyton Krebs. Leroux, 32, returned to the ECHL last season with Tulsa and brings physical play, with 277 penalty minutes in 86 league games. The Komets open their 74th season on Oct. 17 at Indy.
