🥪 Downtown Fort Wayne is launching The Monday Lunch Club for working professionals every Monday in September (except Labor Day) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Porch Off Calhoun next to Pint and Slice. The event features rotating food trucks with local lunch options, laid-back music, and entertainment in a relaxed setting. Residents are invited to connect, enjoy lunch, and start their week on a positive note. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🍣 Union Street Market at Electric Works will welcome ACO Sushi in September, offering made-to-order sushi by chef Aung Cho Oo, and Scratch, a Southern-influenced comfort food spot serving fried chicken and waffles, macaroni and cheese, and more. Scratch will open later this year, with preview events planned for September and October. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🎬 AMC Jefferson Pointe 18 has closed again for unknown reasons. The theater previously shut down in June due to HVAC issues and reopened two weeks later. Movie-goers with online tickets Monday night were unable to attend their showings, and ticket purchases for the evening are unavailable on the AMC website. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🐾 Humane Fort Wayne has reopened its Walk-In Wellness clinic at the Maycrest location, moving it from Leesburg after a successful run there. The Leesburg site will expand services through Clinic Plus, offering skin and ear care, mild sedation exams, and more with support from PetSmart Charities. The Maycrest clinic is open Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚰 The City of Fort Wayne, City Utilities, and neighborhood advocates celebrated replacing lead water lines for about 320 households, 91% of East Side and Harvester Neighborhoods over the past four years. Funded by $11 million in federal grants, the Lead Services Replacement Program targets low-income neighborhoods, removing the risk of lead exposure and saving residents thousands. Neighborhood leaders played a key role in connecting residents to the free program. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🏗️ The proposed Coldwater Commons development, planned for nearly nine acres south of Northrop High School, includes three buildings with over 20 dining and retail units, a splash pad, and future outlots. Developers have increased parking to 290 spots after community feedback and addressed traffic concerns by planning off-peak operating hours. The project has support from FWCS and the Airport Authority. The Fort Wayne Plan Commission will decide whether to approve or deny the project at its August 18 business meeting. 🚗 A crash Monday evening at St. Joe Center Rd. and Inland Trail slowed traffic on Fort Wayne’s northeast side. One person was injured and is in non-life-threatening condition. Police are directing traffic while investigating and clearing the scene. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚓 The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Division and Gang and Violent Crimes Unit conducted another blitz operation Friday targeting downtown and surrounding areas. The effort aimed to address open-air dealings, narcotics use, prostitution, and failure to appear warrants. Since spring 2025, similar patrols have led to 36 prior arrests, with the last blitz held three weeks ago. This latest operation resulted in 13 arrests on charges ranging from dealing and possession of narcotics to parole violations and prostitution. Read more from WANE 15 here.
⚖️ The Allen County Coroner’s Office has ruled the deaths of Rickita Lanae Washington, 38, and Odie Lionel Sanders, 46, a murder-suicide. Officers responded Saturday morning to a reported domestic battery in progress on Morning Light Trail, where both were found dead from gunshot wounds. Washington’s death was ruled a homicide; Sanders’ death was ruled a suicide. Read more from WANE 15 here.
