🛍️ The Nonprofit Thrift Trail takes place August 15–16 in Fort Wayne, featuring nine participating stores including Blue Jacket Clothing Company, Franciscan Center and Family Thrift, Fort Wayne Habitat ReStore, Dove’s Nest Thrift Shop, The Lighthouse Family Thrift Store, and Renew by Blue Jacket. 💃 The Bell Mansion’s Mid Summer Nights Ball is set for Saturday, August 16, from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, inviting guests to experience the Regency era. Tickets start at $65. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🐾 Georgetown Biggby Coffee hosts “Coffee for Claws” Monday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., donating $1 from every purchase to the Angel Fund at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control. The fund helps animals in urgent need of medical care. The event takes place at 6568 E State Boulevard near the Allen County Public Library Georgetown Branch. 🕊️ The Suicide Awareness Walk will be held Saturday, September 20, in Fort Wayne. Registration is open, and those who sign up by August 24 will receive a free t-shirt at check-in. 🎵 Fort Wayne Community Schools’ b Instrumental program marks 10 years of offering free instruments to students from sixth grade through graduation. The program, supported by the FWCS Foundation and serviced through Sweetwater, has been linked to better academic performance, higher attendance, and lower discipline rates. Students also benefit from specialist instruction and summer access to instruments. The program recently earned national recognition from the Best Communities for Music Education. 💧 Fort Wayne City Councilman Russ Jehl announced opposition to proposed water, sewer, and stormwater rate hikes set for discussion Tuesday. The increases, requested by City Utilities, would roll out over three to five years. Jehl cited loss of confidence in leadership, calling City Utilities a “regional monopoly” and urging improved customer service, communication, and project management. Read more from WANE 15 here.

🎰 Governor Mike Braun said Indiana will “get to the right place” in deciding where to relocate the struggling Rising Star casino, suggesting locations beyond northeast Indiana, though noting Fort Wayne could be an ideal spot. He also confirmed no talks have taken place with the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma regarding a casino on their northwest Allen County land. Brendan Durfee hit his third home run of the season, but the TinCaps lost 4-2 to the South Bend Cubs on Sunday. Fort Wayne dropped five of six games in the road series. South Bend led 1-0 early, then added three runs in the fifth, including a two-run homer by Cristian Hernandez. Durfee’s two-run shot accounted for all of Fort Wayne’s scoring, but the team went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The TinCaps now return home to face the West Michigan Whitecaps in a six-game series starting Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Read more from WANE 15 here.
