🚴 Trek the Trails and Tread the Trails kick off April 29 at Promenade Park
The 2025 Trek the Trails and Tread the Trails season starts April 29 at 6 p.m. at Promenade Park, followed by a free Trails Celebration Party. Both programs run during the same weeks with rotating locations.

🏥 Northeast Indiana hospitals push back against national charity shortfall study
A Lown Institute study said many Indiana nonprofit hospitals received more in tax breaks than they gave in community benefits. Parkview, IU Health, and Cameron hospitals disputed the findings, citing omitted data and flawed methodology.

🎾 Free summer sports academy returns for Fort Wayne youth
The Lifetime Sports Academy returns June 2–July 18 for Fort Wayne kids ages 7–17. Youth can learn tennis, golf, and swimming from certified coaches at no cost. Registration is open, with lunch provided through FWCS.

🧀 Mac & Cheese Festival returns to Parkview Field this summer
The Mac & Cheese Festival returns to Parkview Field on July 19 from 3–8 p.m. Over 30 varieties of mac and cheese, 100+ drinks, live music, games, and a food contest await. Tickets go on sale May 8.

👔 Fort Wayne United hosts 5th annual Friday Tie Day
Fort Wayne United’s Friday Tie Day brought together over 80 students and community leaders to learn about careers and tie neckties. Now in four schools, the event aims to inspire young men through mentorship and connection.

🚓 Police address video of officers using force during arrest
FWPD responded to a viral video showing officers using force during a traffic stop. Court documents say Lee sold crack to an undercover cop, resisted arrest, and began smoking crack in the officer’s vehicle.

Purdue Fort Wayne fell 8–6 to Notre Dame despite all nine starters logging hits. Home runs by Osterhouse, Sailors, and Hall weren’t enough to overcome the Irish’s late-game surge. The Mastodons host Youngstown State next.
