🏡 Curb Appeal Program returns for third year
Fort Wayne’s Curb Appeal program opens April 22, offering up to $2,500 in reimbursements for exterior home improvements. Around 125 projects will be funded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications close April 25. Read more from City of Fort Wayne here.
🍝 The Italian Connection reopens after renovations
After weeks of upgrades, The Italian Connection has reopened with a renovated kitchen featuring new floors, washable surfaces, and updated electrical. The Fiato family continues its 45-year tradition of treating every customer like family. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚔 Three arrested after armed robbery near Anthony & Tillman
Fort Wayne Police arrested Mu Kin and two juveniles after a 2:40 p.m. armed robbery near Anthony & Tillman. A silver BMW was located within minutes. Three others in the vehicle were released. Read more from Hoodline here.
🧩 Fort Wayne Zoo earns Certified Autism Center recognition
The Fort Wayne Zoo is now a Certified Autism Center after completing an autism-specific training and certification program. The designation highlights its commitment to supporting autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals with inclusive services and accommodations. Read more from WFFT here.
🍻 Braun crackdown on ‘nuisance bars’ adds to Fort Wayne efforts
Governor Braun announced a statewide plan targeting “nuisance bars” through a joint effort between Indiana State Police and Excise Police. Fort Wayne’s 2024 ordinance and a group ID scanning system are already tackling problem businesses locally. Read more from WANE 15 here.
👫 Big Brother Big Sister launches ‘It Takes 2’ recruitment campaign
Big Brother Big Sister is launching the ‘It Takes 2’ campaign from April 24 to August 2, aiming to recruit 500 volunteers in 90 days. Applications are open for both Bigs and Littles through their website. Read more from WANE 15 here.
✊ Fort Wayne joins nationwide protest against executive overreach
Protesters gathered at the Allen County Courthouse for a national day of action organized by WUFPAC, 50501, and other groups to oppose executive overreach. The event included a food drive and ran from noon to 2 p.m. Read more from WANE 15 here.
🚓 FWPD: Standoff ends with arrest of man threatening explosives
FWPD responded to Dinnen Ave where Lantz Garrett barricaded himself in a basement, threatened officers with explosives, and refused to surrender. Police used chemical irritants to arrest him. He had three active felony warrants. Read more from WANE 15 here.

After a game one loss, the Komets bounced back with a 5-2 win over the Iowa Heartlanders in game two. Key goals came from Aleardi, Murray, Dugan, and Tyutyayev. The series now shifts to Iowa. Read more from WANE 15 here.
