Volunteer Center to Host Annual Get Connected Volunteer Expo
• The event will take place Thursday, April 23 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Glenbrook Square Mall near the food court.

Fort Wayne FC Stadium Races to Finish Ahead of May 2 Home Opener
• Fort Wayne FC’s first match at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium is scheduled for May 2 at 7:30 p.m. with a capacity of 9,200 fans.
• Construction crews are working around the clock to complete turf installation and seating, though some features like the video board will not be ready.
• Officials called the opener a “soft opening” and said the venue will continue to add features and host future events including concerts.

Man Charged With Child Molesting After Domestic Disturbance Investigation
• Police were called Friday to a domestic disturbance at a Fort Wayne residence involving Shawn Kessell.
• Investigators later learned of alleged child sexual abuse involving a victim who was between 11 and 13 years old.
• Kessell faces two counts of child molesting and one felony count related to harmful material, with a court appearance scheduled Tuesday.

Fort Wayne Man Sentenced to 70 Years for Conspiracy to Kill Informant
• Jason Bridges was sentenced to 70 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder and methamphetamine dealing as a habitual offender.
• Investigators said Bridges communicated with two women using coded language and monitored accounts while planning actions against a criminal informant.
• Co-defendant Redena Hire pleaded guilty to related drug and assisting charges and faces up to 10 years in prison at her sentencing.

Komets Clinch Division Title With 4-3 Win Over Kalamazoo Wings
• The Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 4-3 to win the ECHL Central Division regular season championship.
• Austin Magera scored twice and was named team MVP after the game, helping the Komets finish with 100 points.

• Energy Secretary Chris Wright said prices may not fall below $3 per gallon until next year due to the ongoing war with Iran.
• Gas prices have risen to about $4.04 per gallon on average since the conflict began on Feb. 28.
• Disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, which carries about one fifth of global oil, are driving higher energy costs.
